Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

Decided to upload my ugly snatch grip deadlifts. 180 kg was a PR by complete default. I have never tried to go heavy on these. Definitely lost position there. Then again my snatch grip deadlifts don’t look exactly text book to begin with.

Weighted vest walk ca. 4 km. in 40 min.

Recovery isn’t up to par atm. Still wanted to do something that didn’t involve engaging with people.

someone had to do it, glad it was you

Body felt trash today. Still not over rona or the cold that likely followed. Training sucks atm. I’m SO much weaker than before my forced break. Enough whining.

1 strict log press
5 x 3 @ 86 kg in 4.43 min. Reps sucked

Did some btn push press here … And failed 120 kg. To even type this hurts.

2 pull ups
10 x 2

3 incline db bench press
3 x 8 @ 35 kg

4 db external shoulder rotation
3 x 8 @ 12,5 kg

Bad sleep and 10+ h day didn’t help tbh.

1 deficit deadlift (1 inch, power bar)
5 x 3 @ 190 kg

All reps slow and got grindy towards the end but finished in 9 minutes.

2 suitcase carry EMOM
6 x 15m p.h. @ 75 kg

3 high bar squat (beltless)
5 x 3 @ 120 kg

9.05 minutes. Belt from here on

4 leg extensions on reverse hypers
3 x 20 @ 70 kg

Still a night and day difference between pre and post corona. But I’ve heard it’s not uncommon to take 4 weeks or even more to be fully back.

1 weight vest walk
Same 4 km with the same 10 kg. 38.13 minutes.

Didn’t expect a significant improvement in time bc of deadlift soreness and drinking yesterday + high carb day and unreasonably huge breakfast.

2 tibialis anterior raises
4 x 20-25

Why not. Was there anyway, haha. Also good hiking prep.

Couldn’t find into sleep last night. Got about 4 hours or a bit less of uneasy sleep. Was kind of anxious and woke up with heart palpations and a weird feeling emotional instability as well. I am not sure what’s happening there. Maybe a cumulative results of a bunch of things going cumulatively not my way lately. I’m being tested for sure. That said I gave myself enough time to dwell in negativity and despite these things piling up, I need to start pulling myself out of it again.
On Wednesday I’m going on vacation. It’s going to be my first solo vacation that I’ve ever gone on. That’s causing some anxiety as well. It might be a good experience for me. There will be lots of hiking, so press your thumbs that I’ll have some decent weather and can present some nice photos.

Luckily had a nap.

1 strict log press
5 x 5 @ 81 kg

In 4.40 Min.

Had to wait for a rack so did some singles with leg drive. I needed 3 attempts to hit a bloody grindy 111 kg. Things really aren’t fun right now.

2 high bar squats
5 x 5 @ 110 kg last set with belt

I’m sure squats today and lower body tomorrow will be great for hiking.

3 lat pull down
3 x 8

4 reverse flys
3 x 8

I’m nearly 8 weeks out from a minor competition so it’s time I get into at least 2nd gear shortly. That is if my body lets me. Things are getting a bit sad in here. For this week and the next one, I’ll stay the course since hiking will dig into my recovery anyway. After that I’ll see what I can muster up until comp time.

“Press your thumbs!” That’s fun! In the US we say “cross your fingers.”

I hope you have fun and some peace on your trip. Walking through the empty woods is much more relaxing than walking through the crowded city.

Oh yeah, briefly forgot that! What’s even more fun is, that crossing your fingers here, means you’re lying. Is that the same in America?
Like when you take an oath but secretly cross your fingers, it means you’re not truthfully taking the oath.
As a random side note that was allegedly common around the time my father had to join the army for his mandatory service (the army had seriously bad rep and was heavily protested against).

The best way to vacation. Enjoy.

Thanks. I’ve trained myself more and more to do things on my own but traveling for longer durations of time is a challenge for me, I imagine.

Mate, just sending general feelings of love and tenderness in your direction.

I’ve done it a few times, it’s amazing, I miss it sometimes. I’ll hold my thumbs for you (Swedish variation), in any case.

@Cyrrex thank you :heart:

@heretolog it certainly opens up a lot of opportunities. In the past, my health prevented me from exploring this more. Which is a big part of why I’m feeling anxiety. But I know things have changed and I have nothing to fear. Might be good for my personal growth.

What a hectic day! Now I’m on the train to my parents and from there I’ll start my trip in the morning (need to collect mum’s car).

1 snatch grip deadlift
1 @ 180 kg - smooth!
1 @ 190 kg - so much better than 180 kg last week!

5 x 5 @ 140 kg in 8.00 minutes

2 yoke
Skipped. Mainly time but also I don’t see a need rn.

3 sandbag to shoulder
6 x 3 EMOM @ 75 kg

This destroyed me! 3 rep EMOM is unexpectedly very hard. Definitely felt m post corona lungs.

Will upload the prettier snatch (@Cyrrex ) grip deads later. Singles obv. not planned again.

So now that I’ve thoroughly worked my legs, let’s start the hiking! :person_facepalming::smile:

Really, nothing in this life better than a pretty snatch.

I guess we have fingers crossed behind the back to invalidate an oath/promise too. It just seems like it’s been awhile since I saw it mentioned by someone or shown in popular culture. I can maybe picture it in an old cartoon or something. but I can’t remember seeing it in a movie or anything recently.

Random side note, this whole thing makes that one Tarantino scene from Inglorious Basterds seem more realistic.
