Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

But to add some additional advice on the hydration topic. Eat things that contain a lot of water. Cucumbers. It’s something I bring on day-long climbing trips for the potassium and the water.

Do you mean the sweating or bladder? I have read that bursting out into sweat even without physical exhaustion can be a sign of low t.

I was referring to the bladder symptoms. Didn’t know about the sweating.

It’s definitely annoying

Yeah I’ve had a lot of banter coming my way for it

04.05.

Threads were removed this morning. The wound on the right has improved significantly since last Thursday and the surgeon stated (a bit surprised I think) that it looks really good.
On the topic of training he wasn’t too sure. At first he said I can train right away if I’m not doing combat sports, then he dialed back to wait until Wednesday and lastly he said to be sure wait until the weekend to really put pressure on the right hand.

1 front squats
1 @ 100 kg
1 @ 120 kg
1 @ 130 kg - ties PR

2 weightlifting squats (high bar, as deep as possible; hands super wide and only lightly on the bar)
6 @ 100 kg
6 @ 120 kg
5 @ 140 kg

Quads on fire.

3 belt squats
Improved rom a bunch. Made the whole thing freaking challenging. Even at 3 plates!

2 x 12 @ 3 plates
2 x 10 @ 4 plates

3 band good mornings
1 x 50

4 leg curls
3 x 10

Notes:

  • Front squats didn’t feel as good as last time. I couldn’t get the bar to stay in a good spot. The 130 kg weren’t as easy as last time, so this is were I stopped and changed the exercise for my volume work. Would have liked to hit 140 kg during this period of front squats but as @flatsfarmer pointed out, this is not the time and place. And as we all see, the front squat will grow organically with all my other squats.
  • I’ve noticed a clear decline in my daily mood these past few days/ week. I can still get out of bed and everything but as I said… A decline. Mood drops off the most towards night time currently.
  • One thing I’d really like to change in regards to training atm is having a training partner. Even if he/ she trains something completely different. I’ve tried time and time again to get my old training buddy to join me but he competes in high jump and sprinting nowadays. He does very little lifting and if he does, he combines it with other stuff and therefore lifts where he trains that stuff.

Dam makes me wanna push heavy on front squats but ima like in the early stages of building up from like 70kg and seeing where it ends up

You would top that very easily, I reckon. Just from your squatting style and build. I don’t think that I have more than 140 kg in me at this point.

Haven’t ever really gone heavy on front squats. I failed 110kg once but that was long time ago. Just have to stick to them consistently for once build up and see where it goes. Once front squats ahve run their course will probably sub in close stance stances squats for dem quads too

Put on some raw training footage from YouTube as background when u train maybe. It’s liking training with hafthor lol

I rarely sweat, so I take this to mean my T is close to 1 million.

I am sure that must be it! Then again I know a lot of women who barely sweat.

But I can’t talk to the raw footage :frowning:

Or you only believe them to be women. Stop being so judgemental, dude.

1 circus dumbbell (only left hand)
5 x 5 @ 45 kg

2 band lateral raises (band wrapped around the outside of the hand - no gripping)
4 x 20

3 pec deck. (We have an actual gym80 machine here where you don’t have to grip any handles or even use your hands whatsoever)
3 x 15

4 unilateral lat pull down (only left hand)
3 x 15

Notes:

  • @mattjp I think I’ve hit a new PR. If I continue at this rate I might get myself a Darwin award by the end of the year :person_facepalming:. Here is what happened: When I pressed the dumbbell overhead (luckily at one 10 kg plate per side!), the collar malfunctioned and one 10 kg plate dropped from overhead on my left ear. As far as I can tell no damage was done… But boy that one hurt!!
  • Technique got better with each set as I remembered what I have to do. Still my coordination with the left hand is pretty poor. I tried to only clean once but it didn’t always work because my makeshift dumbbell is a bitch to set on your shoulder (another ‘ouch’ at this point) since it has no bells and you have to carefully slam the plates edges into your shoulders.
By set 3 I’ve finally got it as smooth as I wanted it to be.
  • there is always something one can do, even if injured or otherwise limited. I am pleased with this session because I got to work on a kind of jerk technique for the cd where I jump apart with my feet. Makes for a stable overhead position if executed well.

I’m one of those women

Oof, that one could have been nasty.

My circus dumbbell has sleeves just a touch too small for most collars, which means that I always get the disconcerting rattle of plates every time I use it loaded. Thanks for reinforcing that fear.

Anytime man. Strongman is all about danger, pain, masochism and fear!

Holy crap! Forget your ear, you are lucky that thing didn’t land on your foot!
