Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

That’s reasonable. I have crunched a few of the numbers and with 200 kg as a max it still doesn’t seem unreasonably easy.
I’m talking about Matt Krock’s “12 weeks to ridiculous wheels” btw.

Side question: If I refer to the program, do I say Matt Krock because that’s what she went by when she wrote the program or do I refer to the author aus Janae Krock because that’s what she goes by now? Anyway I really like her and her programs. I will alter the assistance though because I need to implement carries.

Just say “Kroc” and avoid having to think about it too much imo.

That program is probably intense enough that a conservative max will still do some good work for your legs.

Also you’ll (hopefully) be tired from working and chasing girls in a few weeks. Gotta account for that.

@mattjp I agree on both points. I guess she wouldn’t be offended either way, I was just curious because I’ve never run into that exact phenomenon, haha.

@FlatsFarmer you sound like my mom! But rightfully so, I’m ready to meet someone new.

My training hasn’t been hardcore enough to find out… just a thought experiment

Now that I think about it, gluing the wound together probably is better anyways

I’ve read that through a few times and always pussied out so far. It would be interesting to see you guinea pig it and shame me into going for it.

You do, easily. That rep was super smooth for a PR

I’m happy to do that. I don’t know yet when exactly I’ll start though. I think it looks doable but not easy. The assistance would make it very hard but as I said I want to alter that more towards my sport (and I don’t have a leg press).

It wasn’t bad. I wanted to match last week’s intensity when I did 120 kg x 2. It wasn’t my intention to see where I am at or establish a new 1 RM. Just get a somewhat heavy stimulus and keep things interesting.

That’s the bit I’ve always backed away from. I might suck it up and run a full on Kroc program one day

I can’t bring myself to run Ridiculous Wheels because Kroc’s bench/deadlift programs all seem to be 16 weeks and it would annoy me to not have them line up.

Oh and also it would be really hard.

@dagill2 I would really like to challenge myself and do it exactly as written but I think that would just not be as beneficial for me. I wouldn’t have any carries at all in my program then + no single leg work.

@mattjp I have to admit, that bothers me too.
The deadlift program is pretty good though.

@mattjp, I’ve thought exactly the same thing. Neatness is definitely something I look for in a program

@Koestrizer why do you feel it wouldn’t be as beneficial to you? Would it not be pretty easy to add carries?

It would be a huge amount of work to recover from, even without carries. I can’t imagine adding on top of that. Farmer’s and yoke are pretty demanding, even with lighter weights.

Smaller walk yesterday, longer walk (1,5 h) today.

Does anyone have any tips/ guidelines on how to make sure you stay hydrated?
I weigh about 275 lbs and on top of that I sweat excessively. I have always done so (even at half my weight) but since a change in medication and hormon imbalances and what not that was exaggerated even further. Like when I start to move, my body shifts into 6th gear with sweat production. Doctors are unsure if there is anything that can be done about it and it doesn’t bother me to the point where I would be willing to test out other medicine. I am simply waiting to find out if it may be hormonal (and would be fixed with proper trt) and go from there. It is a nuisance to carry t-shirts to change around if all I want to do is go shopping for example, but luckily for some reason I never smell sweaty. I guess that would make it a lot worse for me.

Anyway … I’d imagine that must have quite an impact on my hydration levels, so that’s why I ask. Does anyone have any insight on how much I should drink and what to do about electrolytes etc.?

For reference that is my shirt after a walk (not a run or training session). Pullover was also soaked.

I’d suggest carrying around a massive water bottle at all times and making sure that it never goes empty.
From what I understand, German tap water is drinkable so it shouldn’t be too hard to keep it filled. It might be a bit annoying to carry one around on a walk but it’s worth it

Two litre drink bottle, make sure you empty it at least three times a day.

You laugh but I literally have the bladder size of a child! Which is super annoying even when I don’t try to drown myself internally

I’m not laughing mate, this year I get nearer to 50 than 40 and already I have the bladder control of a small rodent!! Fk knows what I will be like when I am really old :joy::joy:
