Has anyone tried these? I’d be interested in hearing some reviews.

Winner of our all-around best weight lifting shoe the Pendlay 2010 Do-Win shoe is all you could ask for in a shoe. These shoes are great for everyone including those serious about weight training, crossfit athletes, or your average recreational lifter. And you don’t need to break the bank to buy a pair either. The 2010 Series meet all the requirements of a good weightlifting shoe and they are quite snazzy looking, coming in red, blue, gray and solid white colors. Durability is no issue with a solid grain leather exterior with mesh at the midsole for breath-ability and a wood block enforced heel. The leather exterior is stiffer than suede but provides a more stable base; you’ll need to break them in first. Although these are a Do-Wins, the 2010 year model does not seem as wide as previous year’s so the fit is more like a regular athletic shoe.
The heel is average height coming in at 0.75", the recommended height for most olympic lifts. Mark Rippetoe, the infamous strength training coach, is quoted as saying he pulled his personal best deadlift wearing a low heel weightlifting shoe. As for price, they are slightly more expensive than a few of your alternatives; however, they aren’t as expensive as models such as the Adistar or Ironwork yet they come with more options. Go figure![/quote]

For olympic weightlifting? what are your totals, wieght and years training. I love my vibrams but could never wieghtlift in them.

yeah bro this is the oly lifting forum not crossfit, cmon meow
Got my shoes today. My first thought upon looking at them was “space-age disco bowling shoes.” I ordered a half-size smaller than my regular shoes, and they still have a little bit of extra room. Not too much, though. In retrospect, I might have gone with the less ostentatious Rogue Do-Wins.
I much prefer the 1.25" heel height. My awesome Do-win Rogue’s are still kickin. They are so cheap now though, damn! I bought them when they were $100.

Someone came into my gym wearing those and it freaked everyone out. Similar to seeing a horrible car accident.
I’ve had a pair of these for about 2-3 months and all in all I’ve been very pleased with them. I also ordered half a size down, which gives me a nice, tight fit, not a whole lot of wiggle room, which is good for having that nice stable base. My only complaint would be the strap on the front, it would be nice if it were wider or if there were one/two more straps, but one strap seems to do the job fine. I had a pair of Adidas adistars (most recent model) before this, and I actually prefer the Pendlays over these because my feet just feel more stable. The base is one solid piece rather than being split in two like the Adidas, which I have found makes my base more solid. Plus the Pendlays cost about what the Adidas cost…

The best part is that a lot of the stronger CFit guys now wear OL shoes for their lifts and vibrams for all their other random bath-house shenanigans. In the end i wonder if they’ll eventually boil it back down to normality.

If CF ever boiled back down to normality, then the kool-aid those nutjobs are guzzling back will start to look a lot like the tap water the rest of us subsist on, and I’m not sure they’ll be okay with looking like “the rest of us” as opposed to the indomitable badasses they’ve been proclaimed to be. That’s what I say anyways, tough to predict the future when you live in the here and meow.
Everyone give the barefoot thing a shot. But only after you have done 1000 clapping push-ups, run backwards for 5 miles, completed 150 seizure pull-ups with an emphasis on banging your head against the bar and, most importantly, named this workout after the fat girl who lives down the block. Don’t forget to do it for atleast 5 cycles and post your time.
Rigert’s femur is as short if not slightly shorter than his tibia. A true anatomical
blessing.
When they said the heel height was 0.75 did they mean the difference between the interior height of the heel and the interior height of the toe? I’m just wondering whether that is the standard way of measuring that since the external measurement has the heel looking over one inch. I’m kind of obsessing about shoes because I really don’t think I’m ever going to be able to lift without a one inch difference. Even then I think my depth is going to be a bit limited. Time will tell, I guess… I’m not sure what is up with metallic shoes at the moment. Even cross trainers seem to be doing it.
I currently front squat ATG 415 (had more in the tank I think I have 425 in me), back squat ATG over 500lbs. and ditto for PL style (testing today, but should be around 550). I have also Clean and Jerked over 300 pounds. All of this was done in bare feet.
Snatching is a different ball game though and shoes help tremendously for me. I really don’t like wearing weightlifting shoes for the other lifts, though I am probably going to try and wean myself off bare feet so I can start competing in O-Lifting. BW is ~225.
I have had my eye on some of these new Pendlay shoes, but heard the quality control was poor (uneven heels, tearing, etc.). Any experience from anyone here?
Has anyone else gotten “addicted” to their weightlifting shoes? Except for deadlifts and walking lunges, both of which I rarely do and when I do them I go without shoes, I find that every lift feels better in OL shoes. Kettlebell swings - better. Presses - better. Squats - WAY WAY better than flat shoes or no shoes, it’s not even close.
I just picked up a pair of the discontinued 2010 Pendlay shoes. The yellow and green 2011 models are coming out so they were on sale. IMO, the 2010s are much better looking than the 2011.
I have the pendlay shoes. They are very good. But not for the self-concious (bright blue).
I don’t lift compete or anything. But they improved my clean pulls and snatch pulls almost instantly.
They seem to help you keep your balance in the power position and put everything into the pull.
Without shoes it seems as if the weight wants to pull me forward.
They took my snatch pulls from 110kg to 140kg and clean pulls from 130kg - 180kg to belly button.

Front squat balance is also easier,
I have no coaching whatsoever, so take it with a pinch of salt
