can anyone help? i used to be able to dip normally with added weight but for the last 3 months or so i have been unable to complete even one rep without a sharp pain across my chest and sternum. This problem only occurs when dipping and hasn’t affected any other chest exercises - bench etc, whats goung on?
HAHA! I GOT THE ANSWER. or at least i could relate. i posted the SAME message before. i used to be able to do dips w/ 90 lb’s attached to the belt. on the 5th rep of that, it felt like it damn near popped (my sternum) i couldn’t do dips anymore or shrugs or anything that put tension on my chest. well, it’s been 2 months now, and the pain is on and off, and i have continued lifting. i took the past 2 weeks off, and called a massage/trainer/therapist/doctor etc. he told me that if i had full range of motion, and i could do some lifts, that i should CONTINUE to do lifts, but maybe not as intensily, not until i got TOTALLY better. he said it was a little ligament strain or pull. start off with really small weights and don’t do anything uncomfortable. also, stretch it out a lot, maybe add some cardio. stretching your chest is key. hope this helps.
