speaking of protein shakes. in the past i would buy one of the big jugs of protein. after about a week of it, i was so tired of the taste that it was all i could do to choke it down. now i buy the smaller ones that last about a week. i switch up flavors to keep it “new and exciting”. i just finished “banana split” and now i’m on “chocolate caramel”. it’s a little more expensive this way but at least i don’t have to hold my nose to get it down.

Couldn’t you simply buy a big container, use it for a week and then swith flavors or brands. The initial cost might be greater, but over time you will save money.
I’ve been using the Milk Chocolate Low-Carb Metabolic Drive (sponsorships welcome) for a couple of years now, and still love the flavor.

Back to the original topic. IMO the best way to make guacamole is to keep it simple, and more importantly make sure your avocado is as ripe as it can be without turning brown and stringy. ONLY use Hass avocados. Nothing else will do.
So, keep it simple - avocado (I prefer to blend mine smooth rather than mash with a fork, and then get the texture from other ingredients), squeeze of lemon juice, salt, finely chopped tomato (about 4:1 avocado to tomato), cilantro, finely chopped scallion. Nothing else. Don’t fuck it up with garlic or chiles like some morons do. Save that shit for houmous.

Very scientific. It also looks like baby shit and blurs the flavors. Gotta keep those avos chunky, mix it loosely and yes, there must be garlic. Finely diced yellow onion even.
On a related note, if I’m not in the mood for guacamole, or I’m eating something it just doesn’t fit with, I like to eat avocado with a nice drizzle of olive oil, balsamic syrup, salt and pepper.
Also, if you have avocados and you just can’t be bothered to wait another day or so for them to fully ripen, chop them up and stick them in a soup and they’ll soften up nicely.

You talk about blurring flavours and then you add garlic and onion? Step outside mista!
Does anyone shave their arms for an increase in pressing speed? And if so, how much did it add to your bench press? I’ve seriously been considering doing this.
I may also wear a cone shaped hat for increased aerodynamics while squatting.

Oh, and guacamole sucks. Humus is where it’s at.[/quote]
This question was dealt with in the OVer 35 forum as regards head shaving and squatting. It was decided that wind resistance was indeed a limiting factor - so shave away.

Yeah - you can talk the talk but can you guac the guac?
Finally, if you doubled 265 a couple of times on Monday and then on Tuesday missed your second attempt that is NOT considered to be a 50% performance decrement. Instead, using a 1 rep max calculator I get 283 as the max for a 265 double. So 265/283=93.6% or a 6.4% performance decrement. Considering that you are relatively new to training you may consider doing something relatively simple like Pavel’s Power to the People program for a couple of key exercises and using the wave cycles. If you overly complicate your training in the beginning stages then what will you do when you start to plateau? Leave some tricks in the bag for later.

What the hell does that have to do with Guacamole?
