I know this is the first time that I’ve posted in you log, I’ll admit that I haven’t read all 33 pages of it, but I drop by occasionally and check it out.
The detail is good! I wish that I had the patience to record all my training sessions!

I think it could be really good for you to write it all up in detail, it get’s you thinking about things and helps you recall what you’ve learnt, what you need to work on etc.

I’ve especially liked reading your posts scince you started taking the judo classes. I’m a TKD/HKD practicioner but considering taking judo classes in the next year or so. Although HKD has some throws/ground work it’s primarily a striking art and I think I could really benefit from the judo. My grandmaster was actually a national judo champion before he started learning TKD in Korea.

BJJ would be cool too but there’s no decent schools where I live.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, and if you’ve already covered it earlier in your thread… But what are the main differences between judo and BJJ? To me they seem so similar, except maybe judo is more about the throws and bjj is more about the ground/submission stuff? Am I completely off the mark? I know they contain both things but is there a bigger emphasis in one compared to the other?

NO! It’s not too much detail - I like that you actually describe what’s going on. It’s why I read your log in the first place. Well that and your general observations of life which totally crack me up.[/quote]

Thanks, I never actually intend to be funny, but I always get that.

Well the two I kinda did were a throw with a same side lapel grip and a gi grip near the elbow then you step across and behind them and kick there leg out from under them. The other one had a cat claw sleeve grip and then you stepped into them (your back to their front) and catch their bicep into your arm, then it was pretty much a hip toss.

Oh, you don’t need to read it all there’s plenty of me just being an overly emotional little girl that no one should have to read through.

Speaking of previous logging, I haven’t seen Aikido Guy in a long time, not even when I get there early and watch Aikido.

True, it does help in that way.

I don’t know how feasible regular Judo classes are going to be for me, it may just be an occasional adventure.

I don’t really know much about Judo, but BJJ is almost all ground work. We start on the feet, but the goal is to get to the ground and most of the match is on the ground. Judo is all about the throws, I’m pretty sure you get stood back up if you’re spending too much time on the ground. Maybe kmcnyc can elaborate?

To catch up…

Wends BJJ after Judo, we did triangle details. How to step up the triangle from scissor sweeps gone wrong, and if you can’t fininsh the triangle, how to sweep them by grabbing their leg. Then what to do if they are being stubborn about the trapped arm - americana, arm bar, a different choke. I was wiped after Judo too, so I didn’t roll.

You did the V-Diet?

Me? Nope - my sister’s doing the diet right now, though.

It sounds like you did the very basic O sotto Gari the larger reaps and
O goshi the larger hip toss these are fun.

looks like you had fun, so this was the first time- doing a more formal warmup,
bowing and such?
I had a big shock at my first No-gi class, I suddenly realized I had been going for years
to a very “classic” school.

keep having fun…

Oh, I was trolling through the V-Diet forum and thought I read you had. That area of the site is so different from the rest, it’s odd.

The first name sounds familiar, the second one sounded like seu nagi?

Yeah, it was odd. When you have a gi, everyone expects you to have some idea about what’s going on, but I don’t think we’ve ever done anything where we’ve lined up by belts.

Seo Nage… its a good one too.
Wait till you take a sambo class.
That shit is nutz.

Yeah, I post on her log. If she fails, I get to beat about $500 worth of supplements out of her, but I really think she can do it so she’s safe.

It’s a surreal experience going from that section to the rest of the site. The difference in colors only adds to it.

I kinda want my brother to do it, but I don’t think that’ll happen 'till he moves here.

It’s also a completely different demographic. I was under the assumption the V-Diet was for people who had been training for a while but need a jump start, but there are quite a few really fat people over there that haven’t been training.

Last Thursday we did knee wedge passes. I went home for the weekend and just dicked around at the Y. I’ve been feeling kinda blue lately, I’m not quite sure what’s up. I started tracking calories again yesterday, looking better will make me feel better.

Yesterday in the gym:
Front Squats 70 5x5
Assisted Chin ups 5x5
DB BP 30 5x5
Plank 45sec x2

Last night in class we drilled defending the kimura and hip bump sweep. I’m going to Mega Dave’s now, hopefully I’ll feel better after.

Hope you are feeling better, maybe it’s your cycle.

Cool log.

Guess who has mono? So, the logs going to be empty for a little while.

Should be the opposite. What the heck else you going to be doing other than browsing T-Nation?
