I do miss it though…I’ve been thinking of popping in for an occasional class…

Have you tried any of the ‘hot’ yoga classes? I’m going to try to hit one next weekend. Hopefully it’ll be just as hot but with a more flexible set of movements.

Vanity thy name is human.

I don’t do well with grey, so when I tighten up the diet I keep track of macros and calories. I’m sitting around 145lbs lately, so I’m aiming for 1600 calories for off days and will just add in a scoop of Surge for NR days to give me 1800. The goal for macros is about 150g of protein, clean carbs (vegetables mainly), and whatever fat fits in with my calories.

My shorthand is not conventional - protein, carbs, fat, calories

Today 156/68/69/1571

EDIT: I should probably add in that I’m about 5’5 and have a smallish frame.

It’s good your going to log your food, nutrition is mad important.

Congrats on the squat! I got your text, and now rather than calling back I’m going to go to bed.

Yesterday’s NR

MM Warm Up

Plank 2x 60 sec

BB Deadlift/ Bent Row Combo- 75 3x6
I took Bratt’s advice (thanks!) and read Thibs article as well as went back to the book and now this movement feels way better. My grip still sucks, but I’m working on it, and if I concentrate on it I don’t fail.

A1 Single Leg Squat - BW standing on the smallest platform 3x6
In order to keep my quads from taking over I put my toes on a plate (an idea from the Thibs article) it really helped.

A2 - Wide Grip Pullups - Assisted -45 3x6

B1 - Back Ext - 12 3x6

B2 - YTLW 5 3x6
I tried to do them over a bench, but boobs were an issue so I went with the swiss ball. How do women do chest supported movements ie rows?

Food - 170/103/104/1794

Were you satisfied with your workout and did accomplish what you wanted to do? In other words, what was your overall assessment? I like the avatar, btw.

I did have fun, and that’s pretty much my current goal. I’m trying to actively think about each movement and put 100% effort into it. You’d be surprised at how easy it is for me to just go through the motions. I don’t want to be wasting my time, if I’m just zoning out, why bother being there? (This is my main problem with traditional cardio) I also find that I zone out when the weight isn’t heavy enough, that isn’t happening currently.

I’m glad I’ve decided to do the MM warm up, I don’t feel as tight for the first few reps.

I’m going to start alternating plank with stability ball rollouts for ab work. Plank gets tedious everytime, and now that it’s first it seems easier. Why I picked what I picked:
http://www.T-Nation.com/readArticle.do?id=2074029

I also made the mistake of weighing myself pwo. 150! Argh, no one would guess my weight at that, but the fucking number on the scale bothers me to no end. So, I’m just going to put my head down an plow through a month of eating clean. We’re having a party for my mom on the 16th of Sept so that’ll be the next time I measure/ weigh myself. I’ll re-evaluate after that. I don’t want to be a figure girl, but I also don’t want to be carrying around excessive fat. I’m regular people lean, I want to be T-Vixen lean.

I have no tv, but do have 7 seasons of KOTH so I’ve been enveloped by it lately.

Today’s food: 150/81/67/1581

Hey, are you going to fight class tonight?

I weighed myself the past two days at 63kg. yarg. Waiting for a drop.

Yup, it was wonderful. I gots no skillz, but I managed to lay on the floor of the octagon! I’m fairly wiped now but will expound in the morn.

We’ll barrel through together!

Food - Today was a bit difficult to schedule so this is breakfast and then shakes. 151/91/67/1577

No, I haven’t tried those. Let me know how it goes.

Thursday I went to an MMA class with a buddy of dd’s.

I’m new to the area, and finding that I’m horrible at directions. So I printed them off of google maps and set out. An hour later I was miserably lost and it was pouring out, so I just called dd’s friend and she directed me to her house. This worked out wonderfully because we then drove through a maze to the academy. There’s no way I would have found it on my own.

The academy was one of those tucked in a random warehouse places that look like shit on the outside but then are amazing on the inside. They had a cute little sitting area and cubbies to put your shoes in. The main area was matted with this wonderfully springy matt. I kinda just wanted to spend some time jumping around, but there were other people there. DD’s friend and I were the only women, there were 4 guys, and two coaches one that owned the place and the BJJ coach.

I was a bit overwhelmed at the beginning, part of my oh my god new things reaction, so we just stood and watched what was going on. DD’s friend was really cool, and offered moral support for doing whatever I wanted to do! It really was nice to have someone hold my hand.

The guys had an outline of what they were going to do on the board. There was a little sparing, gaurd work, and other stuff that I didn’t recognize. After the guys were given the low down for what they were going to do, the BJJ coach came over to talk to us. He said we’d do a mini private with dd’s friend and I.

We then walked down a little hall and there was…

…an octagon. A real life caged octagon. It was super cool! They also had a few tires, sledge hammers and sandbags in the corner of the room, and rings!

So we walked into the octagon and the Coach said he’d just show me a few basic moves to get a feel for what BJJ was like. I’m a complete newb at this and my only knowledge is from watching a few UFC fights and dating a super fan.

So he used dd’s buddy as a partner (I don’t even know the right terms for everyone!) and showed me what to do if someone’s on you. (Give me time, I’ll learn postion names.) I asked millions of questions, and he had all the answers, it was great. I learn best if I know the body mechanics and the physics of what I’m doing and he knew what I was talking about. When I asked what axis to try to pivot someone off of me around, he wasn’t confused by the question.

I had a great time. BJJ is all about leverage and physics, and I love that sort of stuff. He would show the move on dd’s buddy, in both the top and bottom position, and then he’d show it with just him doing the move with an imaginary person. He was super helpful. I could only keep maybe three moves of a sequnce in my head at once, and he was really cool about letting me go slow and reminding me of what to do next. Also, I had kinda been worried that it would be weird to have some strange sweaty guy pinning me down, but it wasn’t at all. It was all very professional. He showed me three ways to get someone off of you.

I then watched him roll with dd’s friend and listened to the coaching she got. Even that was helpful. It’s interesting to see what instinct tells you to to do, and what you should do.

The whole adventure actually lasted 3.5 hrs, but the time flew by. I’m going to call and see if I can hit another class sometime this week. I think I may have found something to stick with!

I did NR yesterday, though there was a pack of teenagers that felt the need to do everything I did right after I did it. It was annoying.

MM
Ball Rollouts - I hadn’t looked up how many to do, so I just dicked around

DB snatch - 35 1x6 30 2x6
I know dd said to get wrist weight, but I hadn’t so I tried 35. I really really wanted it, but with 35 it’s more like sets of 1 with a few seconds rest. With 30 they’re just consecutive.

A1 DB B Row - 75 3x6
A2 DB SL SLDL - 25 3x6

B1 I DB BP- 30 3x6
So the kids that were right behind me tried this and couldn’t get the 30 up, I felt so good.
B2 OH Squat - 8&15 3x6
I think I can bump the weight up on this, it’s feeling really good now!

Overall, I had a good time, I feel like I got a very good workout, and the movements all felt good.

Food - I did well during the day, but then went out and had a cheat meal and some drinks.

Today I just did some foam rolling.

Food 171/59/78/1815

High, I know, but it’s the protein that went way up, not carbs.

I support pch2 and all her efforts to train BJJ and put up with Crossfit.

I spun this morning. It went well, I got a ‘nice.’ I then tried to go sports bra shopping and ended up with nothing, ugh!

That is the problem. I want it all, so I’ve turned that into a short goal of I want to find something I enjoy doing, and is challenging.

“I hear a very gentle sound
With your ear down to the ground
We want the world and we want it…
We want the world and we want it…
Now
Now?
Now!”

I’ll put up my New Rules workout, and today’s spin class experiment after I get some cooking done. [/quote]

OMG, I love you already. I was just starting to read your log and you are already quoting Mr Mojo Risin. We are going to be best friends. (^:

We can have sleepovers, do each other’s hair…wait that was high school. Sometimes I am a odd duck, don’t mind me.

So in all seriousness, you are doing great trying all this different stuff. A few years ago I was into yoga but then my lifts started to suck. Keep on trucking girl!! (^:

pch2 what happened tonight? did you fight?
