Occasionally. I just haven’t had the time lately to keep the log. When things in life slow down I’ll be back more consistently.
Would anyone believe me if I said my incubation lasted that long?
Lab’s getting less hectic (we submitted my paper!), and now I get to deal with everything else I’ve neglected which includes me. My mom just told me that maybe I should start doing more situps, and to translate that out of girl speak - I’ve gained some fat (I don’t have a tape measure at the moment, but my jeans are telling me that I’ve gone from a 4 to a 6).
I’m rolling 5 days a week, but haven’t been doing anything else, and have pretty much been letting boys dictate what I eat. When works really stressful, it becomes way too easy to let other people decide how everything else is going. I don’t know, I’m kinda disappointed and embarassed at how much I let everything slide when lab got insane. Tomorrow’s a new day though, so it’s all fixable.
I still have no idea how I’m going to work my schedule. I’m going to attempt getting an hour at the gym in before lab this week and see how that goes. That leaves me with 7 hours of sleep. Food I know what to do, so will just start doing it.
So kids, we’re back!
Good to have you back!! (^:
Hooray! I love your log!
Thanks guys!
I’m at my parents for the weekend, so I did a mini trip to the Y. I haven’t been to the gym in long enough that I no longer have shoes to workout in! BJJ is barefoot, and in life I’m more of a girly shoe type, so I made a quick shoe store stop and just picked the shoes with the thinnest sole. I didn’t really plan, or take my note book. I did 10 min on the eliptical, then dicked around with some mobility drills. My back and shoulders are ridicuoulsly tight, so I need to make a mobility plan around them. For today I did the fire hydrant hip circle things, and stood up in base a few times.
I want my weight training to be more about fat loss now, and time is an issue, so I’m thinking one or two compound movements with short rests. I need to do some research and find what exactly I should be doing, but for today I just did 4 sets of 6 (4x6) each side of one arm snatches ( I’m linking myself to an article I should read and you may want to too Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION ).
Then I spent 10 min in the Sauna arguing with some one’s grandfather about whether or not schools should give out condoms. Really dude, if a little piece of latex is going to be all it takes to convince your kid to have sex, you’ve done something wrong.
Oh, so I weighed myself, 160. Fuck. I’ll do measurements Sunday night.

Hey don’t stress too much. You had your fun and now it’s time to get serious. It’s not like you weren’t doing any exercise at all!! Time for an ass kicking.

Lol, thanks!
So, I’m just going to use this space to also link myself to articles that I find useful and relate to my current goals. I won’t need to find them over and over that way, and maybe you guys can benefit from them too.
I foung this article on interesting http://figureathlete.tmuscle.com/article/training/the_hierarchy_of_fat_loss_1 . It seems like I need to be doing metabolic resistance training. Now I need to find a program I like.
I’ve managed to put 3" on my midsection, so my waist is at 30 now and my hips at 40. I didn’t make it to the gym this morning so am now going to get something in before class.
Glad to see you back, I have to admit I am a bit jealous you are 160 and are a size 6. I am 156 and a size 12 loose and 10 tight. F’n pear body!
At least I have the shoulders growing to make the hips not look so big. I look forward to reading your log again.

Really though, women’s sizes mean nothing these days. I’m a 6 in the random brand of jeans I bought. I bet I could find a brand I’m a 14 in and a brand I’m a 0 in, it seems to be arbitrary.
Hey A.!!
Happy to see you back!
sorry work/school? has had you so busy…I can relate though, somewhat at least…
It’s all about finding that balance!
Jenny- if you think that’s crazy, I have about 50 lbs on you, and I am in a size 12 now ![]()

I have to chime in on this… I’ve stopped shopping at certain stores because I only fit into their “large” shirts or size 10 pants. I now shop places where I like their clothes AND I’m a size 6/8 because I know that’s what I actually am.
PS. Glad to see you back pch. Have you thought about doing a few weeks of complexes to kick your ass? I did one the other day and it took me 11 minutes in total. I was gassed and feeling pretty tired/sore after, but in a good way. Here’s another link (I also posted it in my log): Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION

That is true I guess…
Waking up early on Monday didn’t work, so I tried to cram gym time in before class. Class is 3 hours, so I didn’t want to do anything that would make class hard to get through. Class isn’t that physically taxing, but if I’m too wiped I can’t concentrate. Which means I don’t learn anything, and I get my ass kicked. I just did a 10 min warm up on the elliptical then snatches. I did a few sets of 6 with the 35s, which means that my strength hasn’t really changed. Then 4x10 with the 30s. Honestly, this had me wiped. So, I stretched a bit and then went to BJJ.
Monday in class we did escapes. Two different arm bar escapes, and a triangle escape. I didn’t have my gi because one of the guys forgot his and I was already wearing workout clothes, so I rolled no-gi. I haven’t rolled hard in a while; when life is crushing you having some guy do it too is a little too much. I’ve learned a lot of new technique, so now I need to start applying it. I’m not a no gi fan, but I rolled ok. Brenden couldn’t tap me, and he’s who I tend to compare myself too since we started around the same time.
I did manage to spike myself though, and that put the rolling to an end. When escaping the triangle, I tried to pull my arm out and so it went straight (stupid mistake on my part!). We both saw the arm bar, so I crossed my arms and he pulled me forward. With no arms, I posted with the top of my head which doesn’t work well when he’s also pulling you toward your head. As a result my neck is really sore and I have a wonderful bump on my head.
I got my ass kicked yesterday.
I went to an MMA gym that has a girl. I’ve just been fed up with the male gender in general lately. I am always surrounded by men, and really just don’t want to deal with any of them.
The class was taught by a purple belt under Royce Gracie. Since it’s an MMA school it was no gi. We learned three butterfly guard passes. While I don’t see my self using any of the passes exactly as he taught them, I did like some of the minutiae of the moves. He reached under the legs and grabbed the cross ankle to trap the hips, which is something simple but effective.
Then we rolled. Oy. Their girl is an MMA girl, she’s had 3 fights and has been training for three years, and looks like a fighter. I felt like such a blob next to her.
We just did no-gi for four 5min rounds. She didn’t tap me, but I hid in turtle a lot. I turtle way too much! She couldn’t tap me, but boy did she try. She almost got one arm bar, but I managed to used the escape from Monday’s class! Then she was really fucking close to getting a RNC. She had her arms locked up, but she was over my teeth. I don’t wear a mouth guard (I have it, but hate it) so now I do have a fat lip from her grinding her forearm into my mouth. I didn’t let her get both hooks though, and managed to get my back to the ground, and got out of it. I was on bottom the whole time though, and I took a beating. She has really good pressure and used her hips really well.
I got owned, but was throughly exhausted and it felt really good.
I had a pick up my stuff, break up sex, night last night thus once again no morning training. I’m beginning to wonder about the feasibility of morning workouts, but I’ll still give it a try since circumstances have been weird.
I skipped class today. When I’m upset I really don’t want to be social, and it’s impossible to go to class and not interact with people. You have to at least talk to the person you’re rolling with. My body also hates me today, my neck kills to move and every step is saying hello. I also managed to get mat burn on both of my elbows, as a result of hiding in turtle. So, today just to get some blood flow I did 30 min on the elliptical and then sat in the hottub. It’s not even a workout, but I do feel remarkably better.

Yup, women’s sizes are completely made up.
Thanks for the link, complexes do seem to be the way to go. The most bang for your buck.
I’ve decided to do this http://figureathlete.tmuscle.com/article/training/the_cardio_conundrum&cr=

Awesome article! That’ll help me with the cardio portion of my training, too. Can’t wait to hear about your program.
