Should have slamed her, that would have been awesome.
I didn’t slam her. It’s okay, I’ll see her at Arnolds and will kick her ass then.

CONGRATS on competing, how did it feel?
Well, it was a little odd because it was also my first road trip with the guys (the competition was in Kentucky), and they don’t really sleep. To add to the excitement we also only got one room for ten people. I finally fell asleep around 4am to the sweet sounds of old UFC and dead baby jokes. So, when competition time rolled around I was mostly made of Spike and nerves.
The whole match went by really fast and wasn’t nearly as exciting as I thought it would be. I think it was a good first match though, it’s made the whole competition thing way less intimidating. I know I need to work on take downs and being more aggressive, and that’s pretty much what the match reinforced.

Stand there and jiggle and shake her with your hand posted hard on her belly, keep stepping back a bit at a time with one leg to spread your legs, making yourself wider, and she’ll split. easy to say, now!
pch2?

Has been neglecting her log, but is training.
Last Sunday - passing the butterfly guard.
Monday - Oy, Aikido Guy showed up for the first time since I met his girlfriend. We drilled a triangle setup, I ‘accidentally’ kneed him in the face a few times.
Wends - Half guard. He showed us where to put you top knee and it was just revolutionary! It was the first class during which some minute detail got me really excited. Guys, it makes all the difference.
Thursday - Five positions of side control, this one I’m going to have to drill more. Nothing about side control comes natural to me.
Friday - I went rock climbing. I haven’t been in quite a while. I kept trying to muscle through things rather than using technique, it was frustrating but fun.
Saturday - Escaping the back. I kept getting mounted after escaping the back, and this cleared that all up. I really need to start considering butterfly guard more often.
Sunday - We did a guard open and a pass. Nothing revolutionary.
That’s a lot of training! Did you quit your job or something?
The other day I had to spar 5 min matches with 3 huge guys and was like, geez, this is just average Thursday for pch2. I was wrecked!
Sunday I stood up with a girl still holding the guard and looked around and asked:
“Body Slam? allowed or not allowed?”
that was for you, babe.

Hey pch2–
BJ or GSP?
I wish I knew what you were talking about, but sounds like you are having fun! ![]()

Oh dear. that was painful.
GSP = holy crap
hey, GSP, pass the guard again.
hey, BJ, do you know where you are?
Did you hear them asking him?
Jane and I were texting during the fight. she was pretty crushed.
How YOU doin?
Ha I knew it GSP cheated…
Hey girl, we miss you!!
Sorry I’ve kinda fallen off the face of the earth, life’s been expanding.
I’m still training. I’ve been going to class/rolling 6 days a week; this has been an off week, but I’m feeling good overall. I’ve started taking rather then waiting for submissions to appear, and I can tap a few of the lighter new guys.
that’s awesome, tapping guys out. You must be getting really good. Fierce, baby.
six days a week. you’re hard core. I’ve been rolling 5 days a week. I want to see you again! Something has come up, though, so I don’t know when/if I’m going to get to Cleveland this spring.
Training is going well, Arnolds is this weekend, but I’m not competeing. I’ve gotten no sleep this week and I just ache. I feel like injury free and BJJ just don’t go together. I got slammed a bit during a takedown and managed to hurt my other ankle, so now both of them make themselves known when I’m not nice to them.
I also got elbowed in the ear early last month and have been dealing with that. There was a tiny amount of fluid build up, but I massaged and applied pressure and it went away. It still burns like a motherfucker on occasion though. Oh and I learned that lapel chokes that you don’t see coming, when applied quickly and forcefully can deafen you a bit before you get the chance to tap.
So, two weeks later, I’m starting to get the hearing back in my left ear. I’m just beginning to start feeling whole again. (unrealted to being injured, the baseball choke when applied from guard also sneaks up on you, I’ve seen stars a few times on that one)
As you can see the guys no longer treat me with kid gloves. It’s led to me snapping for using too much muscle. I’ve been going to Mega Dave’s on tuesdays without any of my guys. It’s been an experience. I really like his warm ups. We do a lot of playing and new movements, and he focuses on break falling a lot which is nice.
Anyway, his guys are big, 185 and up, but for the most part none of them try to muscle me. They’ve all got strength on me, but I’ve got technique on them so it makes for some fun times. I don’t tap them, but they also don’t tap me. At my gym I tend to have cooties and always am the last one picked unless I do the picking; at Mega Dave’s someone always picks me. So now I can say I’ve rolled with someone that’s more then twice my size.
Anyway, last time this guy I’ve seen a few times at our gym picked me. We started in his close guard where he just squeezed me really hard. Not painful, but annoying and it really doesn’t help him keep guard anyway. He tried to x-choke me, but didn’t know the correct hand placement and it didn’t work, so then he tries the kimura sweep.
Which I pulled back to defend so then he just pushed me over, now I’m in the bottom of the mount. He then muscles an americana. No technique, just leans all of his weight on me to keep me down and wrentches my arm off my collar. So, I snap and and tell him that if he’s going to just use strength he shouldn’t be rolling with me and that everyone already knows he’s stronger than me and there’s no glory in out strenghting a little girl.
In the moment I was just so pissed off. I talked to coach though, and now have a little don’t muslce me speech that I give before rolling with big guys.
wow. That’s a whole lot of stuff going on. look how far you’ve come since starting this game!
I feel for you. Reading the above I realize (again) just how spoiled I am. The two blue belt guys I roll with in Corte Madera are so unbelievably light–they roll much lighter than the white belt girls, in fact. Really sweet rolling.
Sounds like you’re doing really well and putting your game together. Don’t worry about not going to NAGA, it’s not a great tournament. You should come to the Pan Ams or the Worlds in LA instead. Are any of you guys coming?
Are you going to the Arnold, just to look around? I’ve always wanted to go.
I’m in Wichita KS. Gonna watch the fights tonight.
Get some sleep, in order to recover asap, but I bet you’re staying up all night again tonight. I wish some girls would show up for you to train with. I’m glad you’re back with Mega Dave, sounds like it’s really good for you.
Oh, and try the DMSO, since you have it around. I heal up really fast. Faster than anyone I know. Srsly I separated my shoulder a month ago and I was playing guard within a week.
I tagged along with the guys to Arnolds. It was a bit odd, because I kinda ended up in the lap girl pile (we never have enough room while watching the fights so when the guys bring girls they’re on laps, thus lap girl), but it was quite the adventure.
We had 16 guys competeing, and some of them cut weight so we drove down friday night to make weigh ins. I got to spend three hours in the car with two guys that hadn’t drunk or eaten anything in two days, it was fantastic. Seriously, they were cranky and stupid for the whole ride down. When we were about to get into town we got a phone call saying we had the time wrong, they were closing weigh ins and maybe if we rushed we could make them. So, of course we get lost, and miss weigh ins.
Faced with the choice of not eating, or not making weight, everyone went with not making weight. We went to a really good italian restuarant for dinner, but they couldn’t seat us all together so all the guys sat at one table, and I sat at the lap girl table. It turned out well because we ordered a bunch of food to share and wine, but I missed out on all the how do you think tomorrow will go/pep talk conversations and the random fighters that guys would point out.
We had booked rooms, but then when we got to the hotel, they hadn’t held them. Since it was Arnolds everything was booked and we spent a good hour standing in the parking lot being confused. Everyone then decided to fend for themselves. One of the guys in my car had a friend at OSU so we called him. We get to his place and, and it was an alcoholic college boy house. I got up in the morning smelling like I had partied all night, but the shower was too gross to bother with.
Ok, my incubation is over. I’ll finish my story later.
you are so utterly hard core.
upon whose lap did you sit?
I got my third stripe the other day. Steve says I’m just a couple months away from blue belt. stoked.
flying to Hilo Thursday morning. I hope there are some girls there! I called the gym and it sounds like there aren’t any. I’ll have to try and shake some up.
