Good to know I’m not alone in my thinking. The guys act like we’re all constantly being attacked. I’ve managed to make it 26 years with out getting in a street fight, I’m not too worried.

If your opponent initiates a take down and you pull her into the guard, she can still get the points unless you time it PRECISELY right.

I’m so comfortable there that I find I have to actively think about not constantly sweeping myself while rolling. Top is beginning to feel more better now though, so it’s becoming less of an issue. I think most people are just afraid of being on bottom though, so it works to my advantage.

Bottom game is legit. it takes both, right? Helio Gracie himself being the ultimate bottom player.
never tries to dominate the game, but survive, and in the process keeps the opponent in utter frustration and unable to submit him.

Yeah, that’s pretty much where my game is right now. I can survive a 5 min round with a white belt, and if they do something really wrong I can submit them. Stalling doesn’t win competitions though.
It’s really easy to fall behind in this log keeping thing.
Saturday we did a guard open to stack pass. I really like the stack pass. I rolled with coach a bunch because he didn’t want to go hard, and I didn’t want to be smashed. He gave me a bunch of little tips as we rolled, it was nice. I kept trying to arm triangle him and not quite getting it so after class he sealed up the holes in my submission.
Sunday, no gi, I don’t love it. Honestly, it’s because it’s cold, the gi is nice and warm it’s like having a coat on. No gi, as soon as you stop moving it’s freezing! We did chokes when the guy’s turtled. I like the Anaconda a lot and will definitely be using it.
Then instead of rolling, we did cardio circuits for 20 minutes. This is because one of the guys always pusses out while rolling and will just give up. We all had to do circuits to show that he needs to just suck it the fuck up and suffer, and if all of us can do it, he better be able to also.
Last night we did passing the half guard. I was exhausted and not really feeling it. So, I did the drills and then was going to head home, but we ended up doing circuits again. They’re not cardio hard for me, and just reinforced that I need to do mobility. Ugh, who has the time?
For 30sec a piece:
Burpees
Body Spins - hands on ground, but in air, run in a circle
Sitting in Base - we switched side to side, akin to Steve’s warmup
Push ups
Guard sit ups
Squat jumps
Mountain Climbers
Boot strappers
Rest
Repeat 4 times.
Hey pch2…was reading your thread and I noticed you have a pic of your gi, your ankle, your back, your feet…etc…
but not a single pic of your smiling face!
How about it?

You’re doing well, then. The more you frustrate your opponent from the bottom, the more likely she’ll do something stupid as a result, enabling you to sweep. You got some good sweeps? That’s my next acquisition.
I wish you could have been there yesterday, the move was a real crowd-pleaser, tailor-made for the wily bottom.

Some things are best left to the imagination.

I wish I could be there for all of your training sessions…
Wends we did self defense. What to do is someone is chocking you with both hands, just standing and against the wall. What to do if you’re standing and they have control of your shoulder and try to knee you in the head. What to do if he tries to kick you in the stomach.
It involved a lot of break falling and rolling for the dummy. Break falling is an art of it’s own!
After class we watched UFC, whoa! Then we watched a few fights from Pride 12, more whoa!
Thursday we just did little things to help pass guard; keep knee and elbow together, push in to get rid of feet posted on you, roll over them if they’re hooked behind your thigh.
I didn’t do much rolling, I’ve been low energy all week. Maybe I’ll get one of those SAD lights, it’s winter and I’m never outside. I feel like sleeping all the time; I can’t let myself indulge that drive, it never results in good things.

Yeah…
It was an insane weekend!
8 hours of BJJ with David Adiv.
5 hours of UFC/Pride.
20 hours of meetings with Annoying boss.

Shortest day of the year is coming up and then the days get longer…

You can get a Sperta lamp for pretty cheap on E-Bay. Seriously, D-deficiency is a big deal in your parts. You have that delectable brown skin which gives you more disadvantage in the north.
Or do what I do: go to a tanning salon once or twice a week. You’ve got to use only the low-intensity beds, though, for the therapeutic effect.
Check out the Vitamin D Council:
I love that guy.
I’m still adventuring. We submitted my paper, then my brother came to visit, now we’re heading home. I did take my brother to BJJ over the last 5 days, and last night we tried a new school. I spent a while wondering how Megatron does BJJ, but apparently it’s Megaton. So, adventures at Megaton’s will come soon.
Wait…what?
You going to AZ? Megaton’s? Megaton Dias?

No, unfortunately my adventures are limited to the Cleveland area, after I posted that I realized I should have clairifed. A Megaton rep’s school is where we went.
