Just wondering here, but does anyone live in a small town that has a really pathetic gym? We got this lone gym in my town that is so pathetic that the leg sled machine only goes up to a 150lbs! Come on, My Grandma could do more than that. I find it really frustrating to workout in this gym, does anyone else have this problem?
I don’t mean to be rude but who gives a crap what the leg sled does? Would you be caught dead on that? I work in a private club’s fitness center where the equipment is lack luster at best.
However, they have free weights and even though I have to due squats using an incline bench as a rack, I due them and as heavy as heavy is for me.
If your gym sucks, get creative. No lat pull down? Bent rows! I’ve over come the same problem as you have. I feel your pain.
If they don’t have free weights…move!
Does your gym have barbells, dumbbells, bench and squat rack? If so, that’s all you really need. Or you could do as Coach Davies suggests and begin building your own “Renegade” gym. All you need is a kettlebell, jump rope, towels and maybe a few other goodies (chin up bar, extra dumbbells or barbell, etc). Remember, it doesn’t take a variety of equipment. Stick to the basics and bodyweight exercises too! Check out Coach Davies posted workouts. They kick ass!
you could get by with a Barbel and weights, and nothing else. I take it they atleast have weight plates and a bar right?
I understand your problem and I’m sue part of it is the lack of dedication on the part of the people that train there. I can tell you what I did years ago when I did not live close to a decent gym (I do now and I go to the local gym) buy some powerblocks (I can not understand how bowflex has an infomercial and they do not) they are great (only prob was w/125 you have to do your presses hammer style, but you get used to it) they only go to 125# so it depends on how strong you are if you are gonna need barbells also. peace
Been there. Buy iron plates, dumbbells, barbells and a bench.
