Partial Rep Shoulder Press Help

Hello I need some help please
Ive Been doing alot of research on partial reps and it got me thinking because I have a bad shoulder and can’t do full Rom on shoulder press I was thinking of doing partial reps from the top to the cranium so I’m incorporating overhead movement without impinging my shoulder as would happen on a full Rom shoulder press, would the partial rep shoulder press be viable

I tried using dumbbells also with full Rom but it’s still impinging it’s down to a birth defect in the socket of my shoulders (confirmed by doctor) that causes impingment and I’ve tried everything too so wondering if partial reps from the top to the skull would be a solid alternative for shoulder problems as I don’t want to lose out on vertical presses and having to rely on shoulder shocker (however it is awesome) which looks odd in a full compound routine

Thankyou
Michael

Yes, it is viable. In fact, many lifters limit the ROM of their OHP to the top of the head on up (raises hand). So long as you can do the movement pain free, carry on.

What about pin pressing?

Does a neutral grip hurt?

You might find front lateral raises with a neutral grip a lot more comfortable and safer to do than presses. You don’t want to mess your shoulders up.

he might, but that’s a completely different exercise, lol. Not the same training effect.

Yes, OP, if you cannot do full ROM, partial will have to suffice. It doesn’t sound like you have options. You definitely don’t want to stress an impingement and cause excessive inflammation.

Great idea. Totally genius. Can you cite your source?

On a similar note, maybe consider not pressing at all? Shoulder Shocker - Bigger Stronger Leaner - COMMUNITY - T NATION

The last part of the Shoulder Shocker seems to include a half-press, so maybe do whatever works for you.

This little routine works great, no full range of motion or heavy weight needed…
