Anybody aware of any lasting effects from pec tears? I’ve heard mixed things. I recently had a partial pec tear in the muscle belly while benching heavy with dumbbells. I let my elbows flare on one of the reps. I didn’t have any bruising or anything and the sports medicine doc said only 1-3 week recovery time. Although I’ll probably take off 8 weeks. Other than a possible deformity are there any other effects like a permanent loss in strength? And are deformities still guaranteed even with partial tears?

Mine was almost center of the pec, maybe a little higher. After 5-6 years, I still have a thin area there about the size of a quarter. When I max out reps during bench, the area still cramps up.
I can do any other chest exercise (than regular bench) with no problem.
