Paranormal Activity

Don’t fall for it, save your movie. I kept waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. It’s probably the least scary movie I’ve ever seen in my life… The acting was decent but seriously… nothing happened. The people that made it are laughing all the way to the bank.

My son went to see it tonight and thought it was great, scary and fun as hell.

Just curious, did you enjoy the first Blair Witch Project? I ask because I loved it and was freaked out like crazy during the tent part with all the noises. So I think I could totally get into Paranormal Activity and have fun with it.

damn i wanted to see that

Nah I hated blair witch but with all the hype i was expecting something a bit different.

What I got was a bunch of people laughing about how bad it was and a headache.

kenny seriously save your money. I actually left a fucking review something i never even thought about doing before but damn it it was bad.

I agree…Paranormal Activity was so hyped up and it flopped in my book.

I’d say the only somewhat scary part (but was anticipated) was the ending. Nothing new there.

As for movies…IMHO I think the scary movies are made by Thailand and Japan.

If you want to see a movie that is actually worth watching…watch… Shutter.

It’s subtitled but worth the watch.

Edit: Watch the Japenese Version…not the remade American one.

It’s funny, the only common denominator I’ve been able to find among people who hated paranormal activity in general, was that these people knew nothing about film at all. They thought they knew, but real recognizes real and they were all idiots. My 2 cents, don’t really care what you make of my take.

Just came back from seeing this tonight, and I really enjoyed it.

I’m personally tired as shit of watching gore porn torture type movies (Saw, Hostel, Hills have eyes, etc) and was glad to see some actual character development, suspense, and fear of the unknown. I don’t know a single guy that couldn’t somewhat relate to the boyfriend in this film, or hasn’t had a somewhat goofy girlfriend similar to the lead actress.

On an aside, this movie will be creepy as shit to watch at home, on the couch, in the dark, as opposed to a theater full of young teenagers screaming to impress their boyfriends.

I watched the trailer, and couldn’t sleep without covers over me for 2 nights.

Fawk ever seeing this movie.

I saw it last nite too, very creepy.
But after looking up some info, it’s supposedly fake.

You have a lot of people lately who basically take a huge steaming shit on anything that isn’t a full fledged blockbuster. For them, everything sucks. I have friends like that and even talking about movies with them pisses me off because there apparently hasn’t been a good movie produced since The Godfather…and I think they only choose that one because enough OTHER people like it to where they would look stupid saying that sucks too.

There are people here who I would take the opinion of a movie more seriously, but I think most of them post in the Geek Shit thread.

Beat you to it, sir. I think a lot of people gave criticisms here,

(P.S., still waiting to see it.)

Yep, i’d take them more seriously if they actually had criticisms that were rational or important, but usually they aren’t. I usually only discuss movies, and value the opinions on movies, with a select few people.

I watched it last night, I was spooked. Horror movies and all that don’t scare me at all, as I am usually in the mentality of, if that little drenched chick came out of my TV, first off she’d buy me a new damned TV, secondly I’d smash her in the face with a bat. Stupid things like that just bore me. BUT! Things that leave the majority of the story up to your own imagination is what gets me freaked out. As my imagination runs wild.

All night I was creeped out, just wondering if my gf would be standing by the bed staring at me for hours. I’d hate that, I’d probably leave her after that.

Good movie. Never want to see it again though. Shutter Island looks amazing too.

I saw this movie yesterday and needless to say, I had some serious trouble sleeping.

This was a genuinely scary movie. Makes you wonder what exactly happens during that whole time your asleep. Fuck ever trying yourself sleeping…FUCK THAT!

Well it was a horror movie that I didn’t find scary. Usually I get freaked the fuck out by this kind of stuff. The Strangers gave me the creeps for weeks, I thought it was truly a great movie.

When I see horror I try to really get sucked into the situation. I want to feel like I’m actually there with the people I want the tension to build up until the point where I can barely take it then all of a sudden BAM! This movie had excellent potential in doing that but I found myself and the rest of the theater laughing at all the stupid shit that was being said throughout.

You have this potentially horrifying part where the tension is building up and you know something terrifying is about to take place and then the guy says something like

FUCK YOU WANT TO GO YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT LETS HANDLE THIS SHOW YOURSELF IM NOT AFRAID!

It’s just ridiculous it ruins any bit of tension that the film built up too entirely. Honestly I can’t tell if it was intentional or not but I know that there were tons of other people around me laughing too. I admit there were a few scenes in the movie that were pretty freaky but the rest was just absolutely uneventful.

MAN DID YOU FUCKING SEE THAT THE BEDSHEET MOVED MAN THAT WAS SCARY. OH LOOK ITS MORNING AND I’M MAKING A JOKE ABOUT HOW MY WIFE BRUSHES HER TEETH HAHAHA

The trailer does a great job of making the most boring scenes look like they actually have merit in this film and it was hilarious to watch it again after seeing the movie because it sums up the movie entirely. You could watch the trailer a few times and pretty much see the only shit that happens in the movie and save yourself 10 bucks.

I’m not the only one that feels this way almost everyone walking out of the theater was talking about how much it sucked I think there were only about one or two people that actually were scared. Another thing why was the movie rated R? I’ve seen PG-13 that were much worse did it really slip all those fucks and bitchs and other curse words just to bump itself up to an R movie to fool people into thinking it’s to scary for children? Really it makes me wonder.

Anyway if you saw it and enjoyed it man more power to you, I really wish I could have and I really did give it my best effort to enjoy the film. I just couldn’t, it was a horror movie that didn’t scare me that’s all there is too it so I don’t understand how someone can get upset with me for not liking it. It’s like watching a comedy and not finding it funny at all.

Well there was no real script, the actors were told to improv and were given general ideas as to where to take the dialogue in each scene.

blair witch sucked balls, I hope this movie isn’t like that in any way

don’t see it if you thought blair witch sucked. That seems to be the general consensus.

I thought blair witch sucked, yet I generally like this movie.

Edit: My point is, I think Blair Witch was a much lower quality movie than this one. Just because their ‘styles are the same’ (which is only fair up to the point that they were both shot first-person from a video camera and they get most of their scares by leaving it up to the watcher’s imagination), it gets flak but blair witch sucked balls.

I agree this movie was a huge flop. Im not much of a horror film guy because i never actually find them scary in most cases, but with all the hype around this movie we decided to see it at midnight last night. I genuinely expected to get scared and went in with an open mind but i honestly have to say i wasnt scared once during the whole fuckin thing. watching some of the trailers for other movies before it started was scarier than PA. There were a few creepy parts but nothing flat out frightening and the creepy parts were few and far between. I was with 4 girls when we saw it, i didnt hear one of em scream the whole time.

We were all drinking coke spiked with a hefty dose of vodka while watching it though so maybe that had some effect but still, what the fuck.
