Feel better!
Thanks ladies and gentleman! This is nerdy, but I find that actively trying to be a good role model helps me make better decisions.
Here’s my 3rd bench attempt. My boyfriend apologizes for the shitty quality.
Snapper-I did get to try my knee bands today and they are awesome! They keep my knees really warm and provide a lot of stability which I lacked before. I feel they would be good outside of the gym to keep down swelling, which is a problem I have occasionally. Also, they are not too heavy to keep on between sets, so they are all around a quality product and I would definitely recommend them.
Still feeling under the weather, but I got a little deload stuff in today
Squats

Ok here is my max deadlift video!
Oops, I accidentally uploaded it wrong
Thanks for sharing! Love watching those competition vids. I regret not having someone film my lifts at my last meet. I’m gonna order the Tommy Konos. You inspired me. I never have problems with my knees swelling (why does this happen to you??) or wonking in on squats, but the sleeves may give me a wee bit more legal raw support.
Eh sometimes when I have been running or on the stairmaster, it gets tender and inflamed and fluid collects there. I sprained my left ankle a few years back and sometimes it swells up too. Always on the left side. It goes away after a few days though so I don’t worry about it too much, I just make sure to wrap and ice anything that is swollen. These knee sleeves will really come in handy because they apply heat and pressure.
Hey Owlie- just catchin up. Those lifts look awesome. Glad to hear you did so damn well at your first meet. Congrats and take some rest. You’ll be up and fighting again in no time.
I finally feel better yay!! I am so excited to deaadlift today, I absolutely cannot focus on a presentation I’m trying to put together for Thursday. I decided I’m going to be doing Magnusson/Ortmayer for my deadlift.
Thanks for the vids Owlie!! Love love love watching you all compete.
Going forward, vids of all meets from everyone ahem Sanpper - thank you kindly.
great videos! where in texas are you?? I lived in DFW for a while and I miss it a lot…people make fun of Texas, but there is such a friendly vibe there.
Masch, no problem. I’m sorry the bench angle isn’t better, my boyfriend was timid to come up where the lifts were. I made him for the deadlift vids.
Sindie, the meet was in Austin. I live in the San Antonio area. The city has its pros and cons, but for the most part, I love living here. There are plenty of great places to eat. The downside is that everything is so spread out and there’s not a great public transit system.
First day of Magnusson/Ortmayer
Deadlifts-no belt
135x5
185x4x4
210x2x2
185x8
I thought I would get more reps on the back off set, but 8 were surprisingly hard. I think its because I’m still recovering from my head cold. Oh boy, I can tell this program is going to be challenging. Excited for gains!!!

cable crunch
70x8x4
hanging leg raise
25x4
For my accessory work, I’m going to be training abs on deadlift and squat days and arms on bench and press days, consistently. I’ll also be doing dips/row/goodmornings/chinups/pullups/other shit at my discretion.
Love the vids, thanks for sharing!
Nice training, too. Your chins are awesome.
Going to google Magnusson/Ortmayer now.
Edit: That deadlift routine looks really solid. Can’t wait to see how it works for you!
i like your new program…is it something i can look up to figure out or did your coach formulate it?
oh and i know, you must have a car in texas, its so huge. its wierd how close everything here is in denver and people still complain about “long” drives to get places.
Google “Magnusson/Ortmayer deadlift routine” and click on the very first link that pops up. It will give you all the info you need. Pretty sure I can’t link it here though. Its an awesome program.
Oh crap! I almost forgot I did some stuff today…It was the usual “deload” week if you catch my drift, but I’ve been doing so much deloading recently I decided to try some work

125x3-blech! (is this thing on?)

I still haven’t figured out what I’m doing with my bench yet! I am thinking about Smolov Jr, but I’ll decide sometime before next week.

So all in all I felt lazy and lethargic today. I am pretty excited for summer! I spot some amazing gains on the horizon and some fat loss to boot…I just have to stay focused…
Looks like a really solid workout. I’ll be following along on your next bench program. Curious to see what works for you!
Loved the videos!
Those deads and chins are noteworthy. Especially considering you aren’t fully recovered yet.

Thank you!! I find them to be a really helpful accessory for my bench and upper body development, so I want to be really consistent with them and improve them more.
