Your squats are amazing. Just amazing. My purple belt has not arrived yet (almost two weeks since I ordered . . .). Interesting that you mention that “panicky” feeling. I’ve experienced the same thing when I’ve tried squatting with my DL belt. I just feel too compressed and panic that I won’t get up. I think there’s a learning curve (at least for me) to mastering how to push out against the belt, use it for leverage rather than feeling like it’s working against me.
If you’re maxing out at 9 x 200 lb, you’re looking at a 1 RM of 250+ RAW. That is fucking amazing for your size!
Haha thanks! My highest tested 1RM has been 230lbs, but that was without a belt and even then I think I could have gone heavier. I’m also pretty sure I had 10 reps yesterday, but that panicky feeling kicked in! I just need to get used to the elevated blood pressure with the belt and how to use it to my advantage. Like my training partner said, its like having an extra set of abs.
My belt took almost a month to get here. They have to custom make the colored ones.
Haha I will get one up soon. Perhaps not this week because I’m leaving town Friday morning but sometime next week, even if it is a deload set, ya’ll have to see the belt!
Deadlifts
155lbs 1x5
185lbs 1x3
200lbs 1x5
easy, easy easy
I did NOT go “balls out” in my working set because I felt like doing an hour of cardio, and then I did. Bear in mind I don’t make a habit of this, I was just feeling very squirrelly and fluffy. Plus if I am too strict with my program I feel stifled.

Well that’s the first time I heard someone say that. Goes hand-in-hand with your ‘owlie’ name.
OMGOSH nlmain, WHERE did you find that picture of me in my natural habitat?? Geez, I didn’t realize how pale I am right now, oh well, its only March. I’ll start changing colors again when the snow melts. PB Andy, you have discovered my secret-I am a lifting forest critter.
So my delight at finding some cardio I actually enjoy was really short lived. My knee is KILLING me, like even more than it does when I run. I don’t know whats effin wrong with it. Swimming might be my only option and I HATE the pool at my gym. Just looking at it makes me itch.
Oh, yeah, I think I’m doing a meet on the 24th of April.
I’m very pleased to hear that you’ll be doing a meet. Is it USAPL? I’m always glad to hear when women decide to compete. You have a lot of talent and will do very well, I’m sure.
Thanks for all the encouragement ladies! Actually kpsnap, I don’t think so it would be the 2010 APF/AAPF Texas classic. I will definitely keep yall updated if I decide to do it.
Alisa, I had someone else tell me to check and see if my shoes are the problem, so I will address that. I did sprain my left ankle along time ago so I think it tends to get stiff and possibly compromises my knee when I do repetitive stuff like most cardio. I should spend some time stretching and warming it up more and see if that helps
Since I’m leaving town Friday and may not have access to a gym much the 5 days I’m gone, I decided to combine squats and bench into one day so that I will only have to worry about deloading until I get back
5/3/1
SQUATS
165lbs 1x5
190lbs 1x3
212.5lbs 1x5(PR)
I had only ever tested 210lbs for a double, so this blew my old PR out of the water.
BENCH
95lbs 1x5
105lbs 1x3
…decided to go for a max…
135lbs x1(PR)
140lbs x1(PR)!!
I must be on FIE-AH because this is 10lbs greater than my previous PR.
