Haha awh thank you! I was pretty happy with the way I looked in the first pic. Rest assured, I don’t obsess about the numbers on the scale, I just use them as sort of a bench mark/progress tracking type thinger, and sometimes they help with a reality check if I am being blissfully oblivious to my junk intake. Like if I gain more weight than I could have conceivably put on in water weight (due to hormones/cycling creatine) or lean mass, I know something it up and that I need to turn a magnifying glass on the diet.
So its day one on my stop being a dumbass and neglecting an entire facet of myself diet. This phase I will be especially careful to avoid any foods that 8 yr olds with no supervision and unlimited access to a pantry full of junk would eat. No cheating in this phase, but also no carb nazi-owlie.

*I’ve read in a few places that it helps with insulin resistance Don’t know if there is any truth in that but it can’t hurt to try, plus the stuff is just so damn delicious

I used to be so good about digging up and trying fun, creative, and healthy recipes, but the recent laziness has caused me to neglect that aspect of my life that I used to so much enjoy. Now, I know this log is primarily for my training, but, if I find anything super unique or absolutely essential I’ll share! Not literally of course, though that would be great if I could hand out delicious samples via my log.
I will try something new this weekend probably, when I can be arsed into making something other than eggs for dinner.

Today was a fairly short day. I probably could have kept going with the dips and milked it for all it was worth. Ah well. Eating has been clean but a little sloppy with a couple of unplanned nuts here and there.
heh there are some vids back on page 2 and 3 of my log, but my head looks like it will explode any minute in them, so you are probably better off with your imagination. Though I don’t know of anyone that would look their best during a working squat set.
Actually, funny story, I put my vids on youtube and some random men’s health forum got a hold of them and there was a bit of debating over whether I’m “hot or not” My ego was only momentarily bruised because I knew I was being silly to take the dissenting opinions to heart. I don’t really know that its really fair to pass judgment on my attractiveness or lack thereof based solely on how I look whilst putting forth maximum effort under a relatively heavy barbell. If I’m ever not looking my best, its then(esp with the red puffy face, no makeup, and wild woman hair).
If I can ever make max squats look definitively “hot”, I’ll know I’ve arrived.

Owlie… similar thing happened to me on Youtube… but it was some 15 yr olds discussing IN THE COMMENT section of my videos if I was “FAP-worthy” or not… I think I deleted the comments… seriously… what DOUCHEBAGS!

SO, I never though I’d say this, but the Stairmaster is my new best friend. I have avoided it all along out of general mistrust, in the same way I avoid the elliptical(tried it once, blah). Today though, was a new day, a day of enlightenment. I got to the gym all ready for some cardio action, changed into my shorts(a little tight, ugh some junk in da trunk) and I was getting ready to hit the treadmill when one of the trainers at my gym whom I regularly chat with asked me what I was doing today. Cardio, I tell him.
“Stairmill, do it, you’ll love it”
okaaay…I’m still tentative, but I figure I should be a good sport…
So I get on the thing, and wow! My heart rate shoots up. This feels great. Look how low impact it is! I’m not wearing and tearing on those knees and ankles at all. It feels very gentle compared to running, and wooo am I breaking a sweat. So sweat is dripping down my face, my heart rate is up, its hard as hell, and I’m loving it. Not that I won’t sometimes still run, but look ma I found a new reason to do cardio!
No!! But I will try that next! I am super excited about incline stuff now. I always thought it looked kinda of…ok lame…to be going that slow, but now that I realize what it does for your heart rate @ such a low impact, I’m in love.
Sometimes I get on the treadmill and make it go without the motor. Hold on and PUSH back with one leg and then the other. It’s a major pump. Otherwise, I’ll do incline like PB Andy.

I beleive solid determination, willpower and focus is sexy especially mixed with a little sweat. I had an “in between tracks moment” when I was lifting a few weeks back. One idiot asked a bean pole if he thought I was “hot” and skinny said “hell no” with a luck on his face of having nastiness stuck to his shoe. It takes a strong man to appreciate a strong woman. By strong I mean mentally, not just biceps.
Owlie, sounds like you’ve got great things going on. I think you’ll be able to pull it off and still make big gains in the gym. Your metabolism must be like a little furnace - give it the right foods it’ll do wonders!

*Used my belt for this set just to try it out. It was freaky! I had to put in much less effort to keep my back straight, but at the same time it made me feel kind of panicky like I was being squeezed and restricted! I guess I will get used to it soon. I probably won’t be using it for any more sub maximal work…anything other than 1 or 2RM

I wanted to do something lighter with lotsa reps because I have been doing a lot of stuff in the 2-3 rep range recently. This was very challenging because it was just heavy enough to make it feel hard by the end of the first set. By the 6th, I was ready to collapse. It made me feel great though because I remember the day when I wouldn’t have even been able to do this for one set!!
