Overtraining and Hunger

If you get to a point where you are a bit over trained and you are ravenously hungry and sore as anything and your strength dropped should you just eat a LOT and will you grow a lot if you then rest and eat?

I felt this way but I restricted for 2 days since I wasn’t sure if I was really hungry or just making excuses to eat. But I really WAS hungry - I’m sure because I was not craving junk and I was almost in tears when I would start to actually eat since I was so hungry.

But now it has been a full two days - so have I lost that window of opportunity? Or in the next few days if I rest and eat a lot will it still go to growth?

oh my god… you were in tears because you were so hungry?
Yep, id say that is genuine hunger!

How much did you actually restrict?? Too much i suspect. Alot too much.
Are you still training at the same intensity etc… continuing with the overtraining?

What are your goals, and are you a female?

Joe

I dont understand how you dont know if you are hungry or not?

You need to give a little more information… what and how often do you eat… what are your goals? Being really hungry and sore is not necessarily a sign of overtraining.

Here are some “general” symptoms.

* Washed-out feeling, tired, drained, lack of energy
* Mild leg soreness, general aches and pains
* Pain in muscles and joints
* Sudden drop in performance
* Insomnia
* Headaches
* Decreased immunity (increased number of colds, and sore throats)
* Decrease in training capacity / intensity
* Moodiness and irritability
* Depression
* Loss of enthusiasm for the sport
* Decreased appetite
* Increased incidence of injuries.
* A compulsive need to exercise

Personally I know when I feel tendons and ligaments straining and I get warning signs of injury on the horizon. Along with getting sick frequently and bouts of 24-48 hours of hardcore depression.

You are not “overtraining”. Please forget you ever learned that word.

You are starving to death.

Eat some food.

You’re worried about missing freaking windows when you are crying because you get to eat?

List your diet. List your training.
