Overhead Press Challenge Thread

Alright, it is Polo, Edgy and SSC’s turn to make me feel small and weak. Testy, there is room in here for you as well.
gimme a few weeks, Ag - had a few challenges lately, and my training has slipped off the radar.
I am hoping to have something post-worthy by the first part of January -

Samesies, and I do apologize. First, I don’t have a camera capable of video uploads currently. Aside from that I am doing an extremely aggressive diet and am not necessarily destroying PRs left and right. If this is still relevent I will be plenty glad to comply around January as well.

It does not have to PRs, creativity counts. That truck tire I posted earlier is not really that heavy but definitely tricky with the way the weight shifts. Things along that line is great as well.

But hell, if we all wait until January I may not that easy to embarrass by then.

230 Press. No clean though.
Nice!

Bump

Alright, not much of a “press” here, more of a full-blown jerk, but at least it comes off the floor.

165kg (about 363 pounds) at a bodyweight of about 105.4kg (about 232).

And please ignore the shitty music in the background, I actually had no clue what was playing on the radio until I played this on my laptop at home. You know, mental focus and all.

And yes, I’m too lazy to edit the video down for length.
that was great!

cant remember if this was 100 or 110kg. hard to tell because my york and pendaly plates are different sizes.

Nice! I can clean 100k but yet to press it (so far only 93k). Tweaked my push press technique so I think I should be able to add some weight.

I think January is the time for new posts. Hopefully I will be closer to 100k by then.

thanks tex. well, remember, the clean takes a lot out of you, so your clean and press will always be a little less than your press from the rack.

at my best when i was in college i could jerk close to 400lbs from the rack. but that was like 70% leg drive. my best strict standing press maybe was 275 for a few reps.

Good point. I like to drop the weight after I press, or at least prefer that to adding to the blue-green-yellow.collar bones.

I am trying to do more from the rack, though. I’ll catch-up with you soon. Ha!

(“Ha!” is how I “lol”)

Not from the floor but here’s a pretty strict OH press 225x2, which was big for me.

Try this again

challenge denied…

overhead press is my weakest lift, lets just say if didnt run the 40 at the combine and only did the 225 test id never get drafted.

For a minute there was going to accuse you of just having quarters on until I got a good look at the plates on the second lift.

Nice job!

Matty my grip is much more narrow due to my shoulder. But I do thank you for the false grip suggestion has got me up to that 205X2

^ that reminds me that I used to press with a much wider grip than I do now. Make have to experiment with grip next time in gym.
