Impressive. There seems to be no wasted movement in your form.

i’ve totally revamped my technique. i used to go really narrow. now i really arch my back and go wide, bringing it all the way down to my chest. i can incorporate more muscle groups this way and i feel will have more carryover to my bench.

Makes sense, reminds me a bit of high incline presses which do hit the chest nicely.

I have got to work those reverse grip shoulder presses in my rotation more.

You have any interest in having a go at the z-presses?

i attempted them once but they hurt my lower back. although, i attempted them right after i had tweaked my lower back. i posted my results in this thread a couple weeks ago. i worked up to 225x3 but stopped there.

I’ll post 225lbs for 1 rep when I get it. Currently at 210lbsx1 with some leg drive. I really don’t know if it will take long or not.

How is the back doing?

Well, the challenge w/in a challenge is over.

We have a few successes, some near misses.

I have no idea what to do next. I keep thinking about debraD’s sots press.

Currently taking suggestions.

Pointless bump.

Keep pressin’, y’all.

I’ll throw my hand in. I love lifting things overhead. Does this count?

If not, maybe this is a little bit better.

reverse grip overhead press would be a good challenge.

Did those yesterday, similar to the z-press as it surprised me on how little I could press initially.

What parameters do you have in mind for the challenge?

standing… bar starts on the chest…minimal leg drive… lockout and hold for a moment to show it’s locked out. whoever can get to BW or beyond.

Why don’t you just turn this thread on its head. Cool.

Have you tried doing them with your hands on blocks so you can get a greater range of motion?

Sounds fine to me? Anyone else agree?

I’ll have to test and see where I’m at first.

Now if you can do it already then where is the challenge?

I am no where near body weight, however, I think that there will be some quick gains once the form gets worked out. I think I would be starting farther behind than with the z-press.

Thanks. And yeah, I built some high-ish parallettes that allow me to go through a full ROM. I can only do 10-12 reps that way though.

A little late to the game, but 195x1 and 205x1 (BW)

^taking it up a notch by not using your legs.

Nice!

No challenge for me I’m a few weeks out from a comp with a max log press so all my focus will be on that
