How about snatch grip behind the neck from full squat? Anyone care to try some? I managed 5x28kg lol

I have a bunch of 69kg press outs that should count for something of an overhead push-press ;D

Question for Andy: You’ve told me before but I forget. When does a push press become a push jerk?
Do you mean squat it up then push press it up from behind the neck with a snatch grip?
No, I mean be in the bottom of an overhead squat (or snatch) with snatch grip and press it behind the neck while in the bottom position.
Oh okay. Thanks for the clearing up Deb.

This is why I can’t talk about weightlifting around men. They all giggle when I say snatch. Still. Doesn’t matter how many times I say it :stuck_out_tongue:

If you can do this lift in heels I’ll be impressed.

what is a z-press?
Z press, Zydrunas press. You sit on the floor legs completly straight no back support and overhead press. You need to stay real tight and can’t do any sort of leaning back. Best to do these off the pins in a power rack.

If there is any type of double knee bend, basically after the first knee bend for the drive if your knee bends again to dip back under for the catch

I don’t have oly lifting shoes, I was thinking that just regular running shoes would work because they usually have a bit of a heel???

Yea you could or just as easily put two small plates under you feet. Running shoes are terrible for weightlifting, i cringe when i see people snatching in them.

Yeah, I’ve been told running shoes are no good.

I’ve been using Nike Frees. Don’t know if they good, but I’ve been told they are alright.

cool report back! they murder my shoulders and abzzz

I usually wear something like chucks(flat sole) when doing the lower body stuff(not my runners). I’ll try with plates under foot(heel) first if that’s no good then without. Not buying oly shoes until I know I want to get into it more.

I think for presses and stuff the chucks are fine. When you get into snatching and c&j the shoes become more important. But I don’t know how I managed to squat without them now.

What shoes do you use? Did you buy them online?

I have do-wins from rogue (online) but you can get the Pendlay do-wins from muscledriver.ca. I just bought some adidas adistars because the sole on the toe on my do-wins was coming apart from jerks and since it took 4 weeks for them to get here I wanted a backup. But I ordered stuff from muscledriver.ca recently and it was superfast so if you wanted the Pendlay’s they’d probably be a lot faster than the rogue do-wins.

As cheap as you’ll get, mine are fine.

I hit a 230lb OH press today…a 5lb PR. Its a bit of a tough angle but you could see the 2.5lb plate in the mirror on the right side of the descent.
