My nextdoor neighbor is your typical ectomorph scrawny kid. And he just got a 300 pound weight set from a garage sale. He doesn’t have enough room to lift weights inside but our complez has an nice flat grassy common area for the kids to play in.
Basically we’ve got a oly bar and 300 pounds of plates and a backyard with no real concrete flat surface to train on.
Do ya’ll think it would possible to develop a decent training regiment for him with such rudimentary stuff?
Full clean
full clean and jerk/press
Power clean
Hang clean
“Floor” press
Military press
Push press
Clean to front squat
Clean to push press to back squat or squat jumps or good mornings
Deadlifts
Romanian deadlifts
Curls
Bent over rows
Upright rows
Reverse curls
High pulls
Full snatch
Hang snatch
Power snatch
“Yolk” walk w/ barbell on your shoulders
Partner hand-off to Zercher squat/deadlift
Waiters walk (bar locked out overhead)
Timed barbell holds
Deadlift and walk
Barbell hack squat
Straddle bar lift
No, there’s nothing you can do with a barbell and 300 lbs of plates! (;^)

Hell no!
It’s not as if your training on a pile of rackes right?
Of course the walking exercises should be done with care (as should every exercise), he should be fine. Just use common sense.
Look into some of Dan John’s stuff. He’s a BIG proponent of outdorr training.
Plus, I train for Highland Games which is ALL on uneven ground. Try running with a caber and you’ll see why some care needs to be taken but I’ve never seen anyone in person wipe out.
Plus I think it’s cool for you to even THINK that you don’t need a gym. Some guys cry about not having access to a well-equiped gym. They should adopt your attitude and “make due”.
Lol what I wouldn’t give for 300 lbs, a bar and an open grass feild right behind my house. Instead I am stuck with a 25lb 6’ bar, a bunch of cement weights, a backpack, some rope, a dumbell handle or two. I have to travel up the road to get to a park (fun when you have to carry all your shit).
But I make due and I love training outdoors. A good set of monkey bars and parallel bars by itself along with some ingenuity can in itself be a great workout.

Thanks man. He’s a skinny scrawny dude and I’ve been having him do Alywn Cosgrove’s bodyweight circuits to get started. I might train with him too. I’m coach him and what not and I know I could use the GPP. I’m sure it would only make me leaner.
