OTS Big Beyond Belief Program

I think we should all pretend that the above paragraph does not exist and get back to eating big and pushing fucking weight.

You won’t be heard and you title it as ignorance… funny. But hey, why not start your own topic, people might want to hear what you have to say.

excuse me let me restate what i have to say,

I think we should all pretend that the above POSTER does not exist and get back to eating big and pushing fucking weight.

I just finished week one and i must say, I’m pretty fucking beat. Wednesday will be the start of week two, I can’t wait.

This program has really been the motivation i need to get my ass in the gym and really push myself to see how much i can actually lift for that first set… and it’s a lot more than i thought.

Anyway, back to my lunch. I want to get some before and after pictures up and maybe some measurements and see how far i progress on this within the next 17 weeks or more.

I finally got up to 200lbs…started this program at 188ish

Good idea. Has anyone actually done that in this thread? I read over most of it and all I have seen is ‘I gained x amount of weight’ with no before and after pics to guage how much of that weight is muscle?

I gained the weight but the measurement across my navel hasn’t gone up.

eh, intresting program. Parts of it I absolutely agree with, other parts I strongly disagree on.

I am definately of the belief that higher frequency is optimal for the natural trainee, especially for begginers and intermediate lifters. I think they are spot on with their excercise selection recomendations to.

Don’t agree with their advice about rep speed. I am 100% in the poliquin camp on that issue, fast explosive concentrics, slow controlled eccentrics will yeild greater resultsfor your efforts, whilst reducing chance of injury IME.

I also disagree with the amount ofvolume this program ramps up to. I am of the opinion that microloading + intensity enhancing techniques when the larger chunks of iron cant be added is superior to throwing more volume at the problem.

Overall though this program is better than 90% of the garbage I’ve seen posted on the net over the years and if more newbie lifters started off with the principles this program outlines there would be alot less frustrated lifters on this earth.

My 2???¢????¬.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. We were all wondering what you thought of the program.

confused again sorry… are all sets supposed to be taken to failure even during the super growth phases?
i dont remember seeing any information contradicting that but for some reason i want to think you wouldn’t want to go to failure during the deloading (or back off) period. i would look it up but i cant find the program anymore

Here’s the program again
http://www.slideshare.net/guest5ff101/big-beyond-belief
yes every set outlined is to failure even during the SG phase.

thanks. that just seems a little odd to me though since going to failure
usually causes longer recovery… whatever, if it says to do so

Bodybuilding programs are based around sets to failure because that is what stimulates growth. You should be gaining during this program so that you can recover properly from the demands this program sets out.

The SG phase backs off volume and adds longer rest periods to allow for recovery from the higher volume ramps, but yes the nature of this program is to push frequency and volume of sets to failure to high levels. You’re going to want to go to failure during the SG phase because this is where your strength should increasing and you should be hitting PR’s if you didn’t fuck up the preceding ramp somehow.

I do actually agree with this point. I could have the shittiest routine ever, or no routine at all lol, and just eat a lot to get up to 250lb…weight in that sense isn’t important

Many have posted lift increases that are good though but in general pics and noting muscular improvements (like arm size for example, and comparing these to waist size increases) are always helpful

DH…check the AD thread when possible

i see… again, thank you

active recovery training - page 108 of the e-book. do people actually do this?

I don’t plan on it.

k I’ll post some pics, this is the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life so yeah I’m a bit soft. About 225 right now.

17’ and a bit up from barely 16’ earlier this summer. Cold of course

some shitty posing for you, check out darkened skin from back squats lol

some chest fat, delts kindof dominate this one. Pretty soft lookin
