hello fellas, heres my story i was hoping for your insight
Back in October i started having shoulder pain after flat bench press.I had an xray that showed nothing.Doc said i prolly sprained my ac ligament.I rest for 3 weeks, jump back on training and the pain is back.I decided to take a longer break this time, one month off. Shoulder felt alright, back in the gym for the second time and the nightmares come alive again. So i was like f it,and had an MRI. Results came back yesterday: Bone edema in the distal clavicle and in the ac joint, no bursitis, rotator cuff tendons are fine, type 2 acromion.
I scheduled an apointment with my doc next week, but i’d like to know from anyone here that had the same prob b4 : Does edema automatically mean i have dco?Is it like an early sign of osteolysis, or there is a chance that if i stop working out for 2 months or so it will go away?I ve already wasted 2 months of my life with out lifting much,im feeling depressed and i can only train legs and abs.Seriously i combine the upper body of smeagol with the legs of a centaur.
Any advice is appreciated, sorry for my bad english.
You may be worrying a lot about nothing. Could just be a stress reaction to benching with forward shoulders which will put some strain on the AC joint. GH joint lacking internal rotation can also cause the AC joint to compensate. If you’re taking time off upper body work don’t neglect your shoulder and thoracic mobility work–as long as it is pain free.
You might have to take 6 weeks off, definitely not the end of the world.

Is it a sign of Osteolysis, yes. Does that mean you have Osteolysis, No.
Regardless, conservative treatment is usually successful as well as resection of the distal clavicle if this fails. Benching is hard on the AC joint, 6 weeks of rest, activity mod, ice, etc is pretty typical conservative approach.

Thanks bro, actually i felt a tad frustrated cause i spent 8 weeks of upper body rest and went back to point 0,maybe because i wasnt patient enough to give my shoulder 3-3.5 extra weeks to heal. And yes, i incorporated guillotine press for a long time in my routine and that might be the cause of the ac joint stress.I also have big traps, but its not that the muscles are that huge, its more like i have shortness in my levator scapulae or even maybe weakness in my scapular abductors, medial rotation in my upper arms and my upper back is sometimes rounded. My body structure is a bit F’ed
updating~~
visited my ortho today, who diagnosed me with osteolysis(early stage)
seems like i will never train upper body again in my life
going to crawl in my corner and die now
