I hate the cops. How come is it someone gets the death penalty for killing an armed, trained man, yet you can beat a woman to death in a fit of rage and get out in a few years? this is fucking rediculous.

Because we are the USA. You don’t fuck with us, or those who represent our power.

Obviously there are a lot of outstanding officers out there, but until departments start fully prosecuting the bad apples instead of always backing them up- then you’re going to have a nation distrustful of police and outraged at every instance of police brutality.

This may be the only intelligent thing thing you have ever said…Except the cop is a rent-a-cop for a transit line.
Bottom line, this was a flat out execution. This rent-a-cop should be in jail awaiting trial for murder right now. But hey, at least he resigned.

Actually the guy quit so his union technically can’t support him. If you read up further you would see the district attorney is investigating it as a murder.

Just because they have a badge does not give them the right to execute an individual. That is beyond disgusting. Grant was clearly cooperating. He was doing as the officers asked, and he clearly killed him, execution style. There was no reason for him to draw his weapon, the other 2 officers i saw should of said “Hey, what the fuck are you doing?” Instead they looked on, and just passively watched his fellow officer execute a man. This has totally destroyed my faith(what little is left) in both the police and the justice system. I can tell you didn’t watch the second video the OP posted. Wanna know how I know? The reporter even says “there is what seems to be a struggle”. In any crowded incident where you have large numbers of people fighting you are always going to have a cover officer draw down in case mob mentality kicks in and people decide to overpower the arresting officers. The problem with this guy was he is obviously the stupidest person on the planet.
Those of you who sit at desk can critique all day long. The bottom line is most people couldn’t hack all that it entails to work odd shifts, have any days off other than saturday and sunday and work 95% of the major holidays. That doesn’t even include the constant stressful situations of felony traffic stops and fights for your life with people who will do anything not to go back to prison.
This lady that was killed in your town, was it day or night? Did she not rspond to the officer then turn in a quick manner with something in her hand pointed at the officer? I guess he should have waited to possibly be shot at before he responded?

Yeah, you’re right, we can critique day long. These people are allowed to carry loaded firearms and kill people when they deem necessary. So you’re god damn right we can critique them, and they should be critiqued.
I understand they have a tough job, LOTS of people have tough jobs. You either can hack it, or you can’t. If you can’t handle the stresses and situations involved with being a cop then don’t be one, simple as that. But don’t use the excuse of a stressful job to justify this type of shit.
And drop the ‘dangerous’ bullshit. Police don’t even crack the top 10 for most dangerous work. Construction workers have a better chance of being killed on the job than police officers do.

I watched both videos. It looked like he was cooperating and fucking scared, for good reason. Having a badge doesnt give you license to do as you please, and they(the police) should be held to a higher standard of conduct than an average citizen. This behavior is unnacceptable.
Criminal charges need to be filed. At best, it is irresponsible and he isnt suited to handle the stress of being a police officer, IE he couldnt hack it. At worst it is depraved indifference to human life.
The cop that shot the woman had training, a kevlar vest, and the option to bring backup. If I did the exact same thing as him, i would go to prison. If I shot someone who had broken into my home, who was unarmed, but I thought they were I would be arrested and held for at least long enough for them to decide not to charge me, or I would be charged with homicide.
I dont hold the police as more valuable than any one else, as you seem to. The job of the police isnt to intimidate and threaten law-abiding citizens, murdering people because they(the police) are jumpy, it’s to capture criminals.
I think there is something deeply wrong with you to condone these activities. To think it is acceptable for a trained, armed police officer to execute an unarmed man is sick. To think it is acceptable for him to have been tasing the guy is sadistic and fucked up, and that behavior(tasing in that situation) should be criminal assault and the officer who perpatrates this should be charged when it does happen as it apparently does. BART Police attempted to confiscate cell phone video cameras used by other passengers to record the incident and initially claimed that security cameras didn’t record the incident. The district has subsequently been forced to admit that the security cameras did capture the shooting.[50][/quote]
This indicates an attemted cover up of the incident. If that actually had taken place, then I would like to know how often this happens that we dont even hear about. Guess I understand why those guys dont want the police to catch them now, and its not prison.
Then, after the shooting, the officer was not arrested, he was given time off with pay. So how does this go, shoot a n*gger, get a paid vacation? The DA should realize an example needs to be made, Johannes Mehserle needs to be charged, arrested and prosecuted for his crimes. The officers responsible for the cover up need to be held as accessories. The police behaving as a gang, answering to no one and doing as they please is disgusting. It may of been common practice in the Soviet Union, but it is not acceptable here.

Its pretty funny huh? Some woman is shot to death because a jumpy cop saw something in her hand. Man that is a fucking great punch line. LOL, she was probably some kids mom, hahahaha. THat is so fucking great. Now that kid doesnt have a mom, because barney fife had to use his 1 bullet to kill her. LOl, funny stuff.
But you are right, it would be better for 1, 10 or 100 people to be killed because the police are jumpy than for 1 cop to be shot by someone. It is possible that they dont get shot in the vest and could be seriously injured.
In all seriousness, this isnt supposed to be a police state, although it is looking more and more like it is, and the police need to be held accountable for their actions.

Yeah because cops don’t have family either, they aren’t people, dont have feelings, don’t feel any emotion what so ever. Every cop who kills every person does it out of fury, and the fact that it makes their penis as hard as a rock.
Personally, I try to stay out of situations where I am mistaken for having a weapon, in other words I don’t scream in cemeteries at night and wave shit around.

yeah, next time the cops are talking to you when you are drunk make sure to wait till they leave to take your cell-phone out to call for a ride home. You are right, the cops life and family are worth more than joe citizens. I didnt say they killed him out of fury, They killed them because they are jumpy as hell. They are trained to be fucking paranoid, and then these situations arrise. Big fucking surprise. Every cop i know are big fucking douches. They get a hard on from being a bully and abusing people. They like pushing people around and intimidating people because that is what their job has become and that is the kind of people it attracts.
And that cop that shot that girl now walks around town like he is the shit. So fuck him. Another guy i know was driving along, and he swerved due to a taco related incident(he shouldnt be driving and eating I know) so a cop pulls him over. He had a 22 in the gun rack in his pickup, so when the cop sees this, he asks like he just caught a totally insane violent maniac. He started screaming at him and drew his weapon “GET YOUR HANDS ON THE HOOD”. The guy is outside his fucking vehicle out of reach of his weapon the cop acts like he just pulled it out of his ass and is about to open fire. This kind of behavior is unacceptable.
Ive been pulled over before, the cop acts like if he lets me out of the vehicle I will go in some kind of unprovoked homocidal rage and try to kill him with my bare hands or something. That is fucking retarded to be that paranoid. I didnt get a ticket though, so that was good lol. I dont know if I give the cops enough credit, but I know you give them way too much. I dont trust them, I dont like them, they have never caused me anything but grief with the worst crime I have ever commited being speeding a little, and having a brake light out which I wasnt caught for one or ticketed for the other. I have been in fights of self-defense before but that is not a crime, and how they handled that was acceptable.

I agree with this except for the other two officers being tried for anything. They were just doing their jobs. They had, what, maybe two seconds to intervene. It appears they did nothing wrong. That cannot be said about the officer that shot the young man, though.

You know what? That would be fine with me. If the one guy got in trouble for it and the other two didnt, that would be fine. Instead they try and sweep it under the rug and hope it goes away.

But intent or not a man is dead here and there needs to be severe punishment meted out. The problem is there (likely) won’t be. Cops protect their own, so they all look like douchebags when that’s obviously not the case.
I don’t think there was a racial motive, I believe this was a complete accident, but I also don’t think this would have happened with a white person.

You are clueless aren’t you? If I see gun on a traffic stop whether it’s in a rack or not it’s safe to assume the person you pulled over is a gun owner.
Meaning there may be more. Since everyone in this world isn’t stable I would assume a traffic ticket is enough to make some people snap and possibly become homicidal(see uncountable number of road rage incidents for being cut off).
You seem to think that a cop needs to wait to be attacked. You also need to check any state attorney generals policy on use of force. Police officers are legally allowed to escalate ne level of force above what is being used. Try googling escalation of use of force.
A police officer also doesn’t have the duty to retreat in a haphazard situation, whether they have an avenue of retreat or not, you are required to retreat.
Any time deadly force is used it’s a horrible situation. This cop was totally wrong. Cops aren’t mind readers, a gun in a rack poses a threat, you outside of your vehicle poses a threat.

I think you are wrong, accident or not it was still negligence. If you can find the law in calfornia and elements of proof for the law I would bet most anything he meets all the elements of proof for negligent homicide. The mayor and DA already stated it is being investigated as a homicide. The cell phone video is indisputable eveidence.

Maybe in New Jersey.
The Supreme Court ruled in Beard v. U.S. (1895) that a man who was “where he had the right to be” when he came under attack and “…did not provoke the assault, and had at the time reasonable grounds to believe, and in good faith believed, that the deceased intended to take his life, or do him great bodily harm…was not obliged to retreat, nor to consider whether he could safely retreat, but was entitled to stand his ground.”
