Which do you think is the better semi? Pros/cons. I have a Gen 3 G19 and thinking about getting a Sig P226 DAK.
Which do you think is more reliable. easier to maintain, more practical.
I personally feel that the Sig fits my hand much better.

Although I don’t own a glock or a sig and don’t know if this would be much help to you but i would prefer the sig. I have held both and the sig fits my hand much better. I have medium to smaller size hands and the glock was a little bit too big for my taste. You also got to consider if you want a striker fired pistol or a sa/da pistol. And if price plays into it I’m pretty sure the sig is going to be more.
Both are great pistols and highly reliable. I would give the Glock the nod due to being ultra simplistic. You draw and shoot. In CCW scheme this is in my mind the only way to go. Both Sig P226 and Glocks have no external safeties to make the gun inoperable when you need it most so that’s not not an issue. Teh Sig does have the decocker lever, which “could” pose problems from fumbling fingers in a stressful situation, such as defending your life. Both hold 15 rounds so that’s a wash. Size wise they are about the same. Maintenance wise, Glocks require very little maintenance and Glock parts / mags / accessories are everywhere and generally cheaper. Glocks will eat any ammo put in them. Sigs can be ammo finicky. A Glock is around $500, Sigs are $1000. You could Buy another Glock, 800-1K rds of ammo and take a tactical training course for around the same cost of a Sig.
Like I said, Both are great weapons but the nod goes to Glock without a doubt.
EDIT - I’d keep your Glock and go buy an AK 74. Ammo is cheap, plentiful and rifles are the shizz.
FWIW, the way a gun “feels” should be largely irrelevant to the choosing of the weapon. How it runs and it’s track record should be the determining factor. Some of the most fucked up, non running and pieces of shit guns on the market “feel good”.
I agree with what most your saying but the sig is draw and shoot as well. You dont have to hit the lever before you shoot. Its just there to safetly lower the hammer to double action. Which you could do before you even step out the door and holster it. N i honestly think the way a gun feels is some what important not the most but somewhat. If you feel uncomfortable with the gun in your hands how do you expect to shoot well with it.

Dude, get on topic. I didn’t say you had to decock the fucking gun to shoot it. I said it HAS a decocker. I don’t like them. It’s extra parts inside of a gun that ‘could’ break and or jam up shit, making the gun not work when I need it most. I gave specific reasons as to why I give the Glock the nod. You have said you own NEITHER and have added nothing to the convo. Quit fucking arguing “theoretical” shit.
People need TRAINING with the gun they choose to carry. Just because a gun feels good in the hands doesn’t mean they can run the thing. FWIW, there’s a dollars difference in the grip angles of most guns. It’s a moot point.

They are fine pistols. I have Glock 22 Gen 4 in every desk I have.
I carry a snub .38 in NYC, but that has more to do with what license I could get.
I have a Glock (27? the small .40) that I carry (in a holster) if I have a jacket with pockets, but I won’t carry a Glock concealed otherwise because I am leery of pulling the trigger by accident.
It’s also very thick and not very concealable. I tend towards a little Sig P220 (a double/single action .380) or a short barrel .357.
Long way of saying, if you have a Glock-tailored holster you can probably pull of hip-carry under a vest or jacket, but think long and hard about it.

Me too, but last time a gun thread came up a whole lot of people seemed to prefer the Glock.

I thought the P220 was a .45 acp? anyways, most sigs are 1.1-1.5" overall width and Glocks run 1.18" for a 9mm to 1.28 for the .45 ACP. and I’m sure the semi’s are narrower than that snubbies cylinder FWIW I “conceal” a G17 all the time. Carry it at 4 o clock with jeans and a tee shirt. Not sure why everyone is so paranoid about carrying a weapon. Even in the event I “print” I don’t care because this is America…lol.

Lol who pissed in your cheerios this morning. I wasnt trying to argue shit I was just giving him my opinion and even stated I dont own either but doesnt mean i havent fired either. So he could take it for what its worth. And maybe i misunderstood your post but I took it as the decocker “could” get in his way like you would have to disengage it or somethong before shooting. If thats not what you meant then i misunderstood.

You are right. I apologise for giving you shit.
I do however get sick of threads like this. It happens all the time. Someone will ask a specific question about “X”. Then everyone on the net chimes in with shit like “I don’t own one of those or have ever used one or even see one” but here’s my opinion… ok, I’ll STFU now.

P230, sorry. I think the current model is a P232. I wish they made a single stack .40 just exactly like it. I love the double action/single action trigger and the 7+1 capacity. But even with hot loads, a .380 is barely enough gun.
In the middle of re-writing a really crappy Form S-1 registration statement for a company going public and a bit loopy. I may use
the Glock 22 on the crappy associates and junior partners who fucked up my Sunday.
The thickness is the issue for me with any of the double-stacks.
And I really, really, am leery of the Glock’s trigger unless you’ve worked out the holster.
well, I can’t really compare since I’ve never handled a Sig, but I can say I really like my Glock 19 and have nothing bad to say about it. I have larger hands/palms and the G19 fits it well (the 17 fits a bit better but I have no complaints). I have not had one malfunction, even though there have been times where it needed a good cleaning. Speaking of cleaning, it is very easy to take apart and wipe down.

HAAA!!.. aren’t you a lawyer? You shouldn’t post stuff like this on the webz… or maybe this is your alibi? lol

Well, it was a joke, albeit in bad taste.
I’ve been reading a ton of shit on the net lately about handguns as I am considering purchasing a second handgun (well 4th, but 2 ain’t for shooting). What I can say for certain is that Glock and Sig both have great reputations, and both also occasionally turn out a lemon. That goes for all of the high end consumer manufacturers, Glock, Sig, HK, Walther, FNH, Colt, S&W, Ruger. They all make great firearms and you probably won’t be disappointed. If you buy a lemon, most have great reputations for customer service. Choice really comes down to cost and personal preferences: safeties, de-cockers, how it fits in the hand.
If I were you I’d get the Sig. If you don’t like it, you could sell it used and get more than enough to buy a new Glock.

In my ramblings, I forgot to mention the Smith and Wesson M&P series. They are every bit as good as a Glock and maybe better. They too have a great track record in the high round count classes and would be an excellent addition to your arsenal.

I have the Smith M&P Shield in .40 because I was in search of a single stack pistol in .40. It’s thin, making it easier to conceal.
I was initially attracted to the thumb safety, then realized I don’t want the extra step.
It now sits in my car console, having a grand total of 100 rounds through it from one range episode.
I am really thinking large caliber wheel guns (.357) are where it is “at.”
As an aside, Mrs. Jewbacca has a 9mm revolver that she carries at the hospital. It’s like an 7 shot or some such. Very weird to load because the bullets lack a rim.

Please read this info from Dr. Gary Roberts. This guy is THE leading authority on bullet ballistics. Readers Digest version is that all modern handgun calibers basically do the exact same penetration and damage. Even the “magnum” rounds that broscience says makes people blow up into a shower of sparks. All handgun rounds suck at stopping fights. What is key is shot placement and the ability to quickly put multiple rounds on target. Plus, that you have enough ammo to get the job done, by which FBI statistics states that you will be assaulted by two or MORE assailants, typically at night. Another interesting statistic is that most cops, when “runnin and gunnin” miss 12 out of 15 rounds on average. IDK that 5 or 6 rounds is enough to get that job done. And forget reloading a revolver in any stressful situation in any time remotely considered quick isn’t probably going to happen. Contrary to common belief revolvers don’t always go bang.
Fortunately, I’ve never been in a gunfight, but I know and have read from people who HAVE. None of them said they wished they had LESS ammo on them and the ones who got shot, didn’t care what caliber it was. All they cared about was not getting hit again and stopping the bleeding! lol
In the end all we can all do is choose what we believe is the best carry option and hope for the best. As always, Mindset is our first line of defense.

EDIT - Here’s a “wheel gun” in action! lol almost surreal. I wouldn’t be this lucky
If we compare apples to apples, I think it’s between the Glock models and polymer Sig p250 and sp2022 models. You can get the p250 and sp2022 for the same price or cheaper than most Glocks of comparable size and caliber. Glocks are def simpler but most would agree that the sig polymer models have a better trigger than the glock and better comfort and ergonomics. A sig right out of the box I’m happy with. Glock you’ll probably be changing the sights and other accessories which is going to up the price even more.
Really comes down to personal preference. Both are great reliable guns that you can trust your life with.
