Point out to me ONE huge guy who got that way by ONLY gaining for 3 months at a time.

let me know when you have that info.
How big would the individual have to be?
If someone has to tell you what qualifies as “huge” then you have never seen it.
Oh please. I worked out with a 400lb strongman today whose probably half again as strong as you are. I am also friends with more than one world recording holding powerlifter, most of which would make you look small. So if anything, my definition of huge would be to extreme for these purposes.
…and if those guys are over 25% body fat then you still seem to be missing the point.
I don’t think so. I might be, can’t be sure but as far as I understood it the discussion went like this:
X: Please find me someone who got big/strong by only gaining for three months at a time.
Me: How big and strong?
X: You’ve never seen big and strong.
Me: whut yes I have
X: You are missing the point.

Where am I not following what you are saying?
What? I just said if they are fat as all hell then that is not the “HUGE” we are talking about. I even gave you a guideline to go by.

You know several guys my size and bigger who got that way by only gaining for 3 months at a time?

Really?
Oh you mean that way. Well, no I don’t think they are more than 25% BF. Prolly hovering around 18% for the most part. I haven’t calipered them, but they are definitely the kind of huge that is relevant to this discussion.
SPORTLÍF TEAM-IÐ: 300kg í réttstöðulyftu! Fimm sinnum! - YouTube This guy is pretty big, right?
Benedikt Magnusson Raw Deadlift WR 442,5kg! - YouTube So is this one.
So I believe we’ve established that I have met and trained with huge guys. This was besides the point really.
But no, I don’t know several guys your size or bigger that got that way by gaining for only three months at a time, nor did I ever claim to. I simply asked how big/strong someone would have to be to qualify for the purposes of your question.
You are small and Benni is a weakling. Maybe if he was a WSM competitor or something I’d say he has a little bit of muscle.

Honestly one of the best statements in this thread, right here.

A 200 lb male with %10 body fat has 180 lbs of lean body mass. This includes water, bone, organs, skin, hair, teeth, etc. Of that, some small percentage is actually muscle, lets say for our purposes it’s 50 lbs. To gain 25 lbs of muscle means you’re increasing your total amount of muscle by %50, a tremendous increase. And then to say that you’ve done it in 5 months…

Or, to put it another way: Go to the store and grab twelve 2 lb containers of ground sirloin and start slabbing them on to you, that’s what 25 lbs of muscle would look like.
A male with 180 of lean muscle mass would have about 100 lb. of muscle mass.Thats glycogen included.

I think the best strategy would be to get reliable body fat measurement and precise body measurements (chest, waist, thigh, shoulders, calves, neck, biceps). Then,as you bulk up you take regular measurements of body size and also monitor weights/reps increase in main exercises.
That way,you can carefully monitor whats going on as you bulk up.

Are your squats, deadlift, press, row,… poundages & reps going up as your bodyweight increases?

Are you gaining inches on your mid thigh/biceps/chest as you gain inches on your waist?

That way, throughout bulking process you can monitor and micromanage yout training, nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle, know when to terminate bulking and start fat-loss etc.

The key is precise measurement of body size and training performances to enable to to know what is going on with your body, what is effective and whats not.

Why argue with little people?

If you can’t gain more than 5lbs per year of LBM, then I’m sorry to hear it. Just try not to get in the way of those that are actually making progrss.

I argue because these little people seem hell bent on making sure every newb thinks just like they do. That is the only reason I can think of for why guys can respond directly to someone who is big and who did gain more than they say while acting like the big guys is either lying or imagined his own gains.

It is the newbs I respond to these posts for, not guys who already got bigger than these jackasses claim.

?

1/2 a pound a month is about 5-6lbs of lbm…who’s saying that’s not possible?

The amount of muscle an individual can gain varies dramatically based on genetics so anony who assigns a magic number like 2 lbs a month is a fool.
