One Minute Bunkai

Has anyone seen these videos before? Pretty cool stuff. I’ve noticed myself sort of accidentally working a lot of this into my own training lately, stumbled across this earlier today. Pretty quick and to the point, some useful tips. I especially like the video of the girl finishing with a head stomp instead of the near side armbar like the guys were doing ha

Bunkai. I did plenty of those in Karate and learning to speak Japanese . let me take a look here…

Hadn’t seen them before.

I like that they were for the most part trying to be direct, and some of that stuff might work against your average unskilled attacker (who has no “guard” to speak of/holds other hand at their side and has their chin way the hell up in the air). Gotta say that pretty much all of those armbars were weak sauce though.

Yeah, that’s why the head stomp was so cool ha I think those armbars would work on someone who’s never grappled a day in their life, but that’s about it. Head stomps work on everybody.

And the “useful tips”, I don’t necessarily mean the techniques they showed, just the little notes like “always finish with a takedown” and “hit them in the head with something.” lol Their technique may not be as refined as someone with a solid judo and/or kickboxing background, but I think they at least get the idea.

But one should not necessarily always finish with a takedown. Yes, given the right circumstances that might be the right course of action, but there are plenty of situations where it is not necessarily the best option available. I like the hitting them in the head with something advice, but again context and circumstances need to be right.

The only one of the armbars that they showcased that I think might work on even an untrained fully resisting opponent was the one where the guy also grabbed the opponent by the throat and only then because the opponent is probably going to be too overwhelmed by the combination of the pressure on their throat and the pressure on their arm to defend either effectively.

In regards to the head stomp, if lethal force was justified I agree that whole sequence was probably the best out of any of them.
