One Exercise Workout?

Well, it’s finally happened. I don’t train anymore. After starting the iron game at age 11 (29 years ago), and pretty serious at it over the years, my schedule took me out of the gym. 2 years ago, I opened 2 retail stores and began working 90 hours a week. Since then, I haven’t trained. I always thought…okay, I’ll start again. But, my mentality was…if I can’t do it right, I’m not going to do it at all. Right meaning, a good solid hour 4 or 5 days a week. Well, now I’ve lost probably 25 pounds of muscle and put on 10 pounds of fat. Luckily, my stores are smoothie/supplement stores and I do eat/drink pretty healthy.

I am thinking that if I stop psyching myself out and just convince myself “all I have to do is 1 exercise”, I’ll make time to run to the gym for 20 or 30 minutes and DO IT. My thoughts were…just do 5X5 in the deadlift, or some big movement, 3 times a week. I thought I might get some of my shape back and a little sanity just from being back in the gym. I figured a movement like the deadlift with a weight to do 5x5 would tax my entire body.

Thoughts?

Thank you!!

With muscle memory as it is you should see quick result with just the basics. I have many times reduced my workouts to three day and minimal work just to maintain.

Sometimes other priorities get in the way. I always try to do some form of exercise.

What you could do is something like: Squats Monday, Bench Wednesday, Deads Friday.
To be honest, I think starting slow like you plan is the ONLY way to go.
I like the 5 x 5 thing. Ive used it over the last year a lot. Coming from a 7 year illness, it really worked.
Keep us posted.
