OK, so I just felt good tonight having ate a half of a large pizza for lunch, plus a fuckton of other food and heavily caffeinated, so I loaded up 455 for my max and I thought, you know, I want to see where I am. Fuck it put another 25 on each side.
I started squatting and kind of mentally wigged out toward the bottom. I thought I just curtsied it, but video, spotter, and other said I had about 4" to go, so more than a half squat— I’ll call it 3/4 squat attempt. Top end felt great. Just wigged at the bottom. I think I could be a little tighter as well.
Probably 90% of non-powerlifter types on T-Nation would call that a good squat, but I say three red lights and need to get that depth. FUUUUAKKKKK!! Maybe try again next cycle or after… LOL…
455x3 felt good after as well. Probably a little high on the second one, but I’ll take it tonight…
yeah… i was mesmerized by the intensity portrayed during those mean cable curls. i was like… damn that’s hard core.
as for the squat. you would have had it. maybe think about doing some paused squats to build confidence in the hole. i know when i start feeling like my depth is getting shallow i throw them back in.
although you could have thrown another 100lbs on the bar, had your spotter hug you really tight, go down about half way and then call it a 600lb plus squat.
Thanks JG and soldog! Yeah, that dude was really anti-inspirational. I really didn’t notice him until later. My exact words were “Hey, get a load of this guy”. He was also doing some kind of pseudo-yoga with the belt on. You want to make sure you have good, tight support for your chakra.

He’s been looking for an excuse to do that!
A couple people came up to me after that and said nice squat and we’re confused when I said it didn’t count. I guess it counted for something, but not “a squat”. I won’t be telling anyone I can squat 505 any time soon.
Thanks for the advice Meat. What do you recommend for weight (or percentage) for the bottom squats out of the hole?

i would start light, maybe around 225 and then work up from there. throw them in after hitting your rep work. get down there and hold it long enough to get rid of the stretch reflex but don’t let out your air.
Great job Steely One. A tad high, but with strength to spare. It will go as soon as you feel comfortable taking it into the hole. Can’t wait till your next go at it.

DB Press (high back, dbs to ears): 4 sets, top = 110x4, drop set 100x8, 65x6, 50x4, 25x5, 10x2 lol.
DB Lat raise: 4 sets, top = 65x12 + 25x12
BB Shrug: 3 sets, top = 365x15
Rev Pec Dec (r.delts): something x 10 x 3
Poptarts, Protein, Flyers [/quote]
Nice work. I’m assuming Poptarts and Protein are post workout meal [win] and Flyers are hockey. How the hell do you get those bells up to your shoulders? I’m assuming you do work out alone.
rug- PWO for sure. Flyers lost, but that’s OK, still up 2-1 in the series.
I totally get a hand off from someone (as opposed to a hand job). I have T-rex arms and T-rex arm legs, so kicking them up in a back-upright position is nearly impossible.
I usually stand clean the 90’s up to my shoulders then sit down, but I if I try to kick them up, they usually fall short and I shear off a nipple or something…
