Good to have you back, SteelyD. I hope everything goes smoothly with the newborn.
Thanks all!
@attydeb- I usually have my trips well stocked with food (prot. bars, nuts, jerky) in my travel bag, plus the first thing I usually do is go to the nearest supermarket or walmart and buy food/protein for the week (recently went through 2 lbs in 4 days!). Airport delays and cancellations plus back-to-back-to-back itineraries depleted my food!
O_S: I found another gym on the other side of town that’s adequate. More douchebaggy than Gilly’s, but adequate equipment and weights.
re: babies – careful, just actually reading the “Over 35” forum increases fertility 10-fold. If you respond to threads, 20-fold. If you START a thread? Watch out for triplets.

Here’s a thought. Set the tone of the gym and mold it to the way you like it. Keep doing it your way and you’ll attract people with the same attitude. If it doesn’t, screw 'em an keep doing it your way anyway. Welcome back oft ravenous one.
HEL: That’s my M.O. – headphones cranking metal, head-down, heavy(ish) weight, intense as possible (when light rock from the 70’s from the P.A. is not overpowering my mp3 player)
Monday Chest/Bench Highlights:
Bench: 305 x 2.5
CGBP: 295 x 6
DB Inclines: 110x6, x5
Sweet! I am still amazed that your CGB is so high in comparison to your regular bench. Have you ever maxed on CGB?

I just started CGBP last year some time. I made a conscious effort to bring up my triceps, I just never did them because of my shoulder discomfort I was having (also why I never really benched a lot). I don’t go to chest on those, but use a half-foam roll, so about 3-4" off chest.
I never thought about maxing those, but I did go to like 3 reps a few months ago (I’d have to look back in the log).
The triceps work has helped tremendously. If I can get the weight past halfway, I can usually lock it out. Right off the chest has become the weak point. I realized that last night, so I need to take steps to correct that.
welcome home D
Sat: Northern boys GPP
Took the 16" chainsaw I bought myself on Earth Day and cut/bucked trees all day.
12" balsam fir
2 14" Maples
6 6-8" alders
crapload of 3-5" misc crap-wood trees
Bucking the wood sucks more than the original cuts. My back is complaining a little and tomorrow is back day. It’s also clean up what looks like a tornado hit day.
Sun: Back
Rack Pull: Worked up to 455x1 (didn’t think I’d have this today because back was screaming from the chainsaw/lugging-wood workout yesterday)
Trap bar shrug: worked up to 315x20, 405x10
Ch.Sppt T-Bar Row: up to 225x7
(Superset)
A. Lateral Raise Machine: up to 195x12 (stack + 45plate)
B. Neut grip Lat pulldown: up to 250x8
Lat pullover machine: up to 230x8

Hey Steely,
From wherefore art thou pulling the rack deads…below the knee, mid-shin?

Thou asketh a pertinenteth question, bard. Methinks the positioneth of pulleth is betwixt thine places mentioned aboveth. Slightly aboveth mid-shinny but still a bit beloweth the knee. It is in fact the first rung of racketh.

So I start rattling it off in my head Sylvester style…I’m such a re-re.
Bench/Chest:
Top sets:
Bench: 280x7, 275x8
DB Incline: 110x9.5 (light spot last few inches), 110x7
DB Flat Press: 120x4
That’s it. Biceps were really tight tonight, so I cut it short (probably from the lumber work this week). Felt good otherwise.
Looks like you didn’t lose any strength between those sets of bench.
I know one of your goals had been to pass the 18" arm mark, which you did. Any idea what size your arms were when you started this pursuit? How long did it take?
Great work Steely.

Almost two years ago after losing about 70 pounds of accumulated fat, it hit me that instead of being a total fatass, I was now healthier but skinny-fat (not enough muscle). I was at 170-ish with 14.25" arms. Started eating again ![]()
Great training my freindly neighbor to the north. I’m sure you’re still looking huge.
Great progress, my friend, great progress.
Big benching SD, lots of progress getting made in her.

That is awesome. 4 or more inches in 2 years. Wow!
