He was competing as a 220 guy, and according to his log at the time cut from about mid 240s. He MAY have recomped all the way up to that, but that would be extreme, even for him. He wrote in his log at the time that he got back to his walk around weight the morning of.
Unless this was his 242 show, but in that case he failed to make the 220s, so I imagine he still cut down and just got back to where he was before.
Rock climbers train one arm pullups because it helps them climb rocks. Thatâs why theyâre good at them.
If you are training to be a bodybuilder, why do you care if you are capable of an âimpressiveâ lift? Just train to get as big as possible. Focusing on one arm pullups so much isnât going to help you
At that height and weight it would be at or near the cut off for the classic division at Olympia. When did people stop thinking 200lbs with a six pack wasnât huge in person?
T Nationâs Ecchastang. 5â6" and 150lbs/68kg. Poor skinny little fella with his tons of rock climbing experience, 365 bench, and physique that Cackeye totally wouldnât want to emulate.
Because the phrase âmost of my weight is in my quadsâ is, 9 times out of 10, code for âIâm carrying a lot more fat than I want to admit.â
Wasnât aware of that code. And Iâm not a woman, I donât speak in code language anyway, so in my case âmost of my weight is in my quadsâ means exactly: my lower body is a lot more muscular than my upper body. My upper body is skinny.
A few weeks ago, you said you were âdeveloping a super-noticeable bulking bellyâ.
[quote]5ft 9in and 85kg is pretty exactly my stats and most of the guys in my gym consider me a skinny little bitch.
[âŠ]
But 90kg, lean and 5ft 9in seems to be more standard than exceptional these days. At least in my gym.

If the guys in your gym consider you âskinnyâ, itâs because youâre carrying extra fat and not carrying much muscle, and youâre below âstandardâ development for the gym. 5â9" and 85kg with a belly is not impressive. I think we all agree on that.
Managed to lose that belly doing HIIT every day this past month.
My upper body may be skinny, but I donât think itâs weak (since I can do the one-armed chin up despite having pretty big quads). Lol, and I could still do one when I had the bulking belly.
But the point of this thread is that doing a one-armed chin up means NOTHING unless you weigh 100kg+ at 5ft 9in.
So basically the point of this thread is that you arenât impressed by anyone doing one arm chins unless they are 5â9" and 100kg+. Good for you. Who gives a shit?
I guess the point is that any bodyweight strength is not impressive unless youâre also heavy as FUCK.
Just like no-one cares that youâve got a 6 pack if youâre skinny.
The ultimate athlete can easily do multiple reps of one-arm chin ups, despite his BMI being in the âmorbidly obeseâ category. This is what Iâm aiming for. I may never achieve it, but itâs the goal.
