one arm dumbell snatch

I have searched but cannot find how long one should hold the weight overhead for, and how are you guys returning the dumbell back down to the floor??I also find that when I start to go heavy I can get the weight up but stability becomes a concern. My arm starts to “wave”. Should I work more on overhead press to strenghten the end part of the lift…Thanks for your feedback…

When I go heavy, I usually use a 1 sec hold at the top. When I go high reps, I’ll pause momentarily and then let the weight almost fall to the ground and then immediately return it overhead.

The stability will come. You must build a strong shoulder from all angles. Cuban presses will help. Also use a variety of external rotations and dumbell overhead presses. Finally, stabilize your scapular strength with lots of heavy rows and deads.
