One Arm Deadlift

Anyone try this? How much have you done? I did it for fun couple days ago after deadlift got up 225 no problem second time. First time its bit hard to keep it balanced but I guess thats part of the lift. Tried 315 couldn’t even budge it, might have gotten it if wasn’t at very end of workout but probably not. Didn’t bother to try anymore since was tired but definitely 315 one arm deadlift is a new goal.

Do you think it would be wise to try these as an actual lift? Like do 5 reps left 5 right.

http://weightlifting.moonfruit.com/#/onehanddeadlift/4510513070 It used to be an oldschool lift, I did it the traditional way not sure if the stradle way is easier.

Also note I had to use hook grip as the bar was pretty shitty and spun very fast doing it normal grip would make it much harder though.

Also shows some guy doing 400 lbs for 10 reps-also saying 610 was his best!- in the photo not sure if thats true but that would be ridiculous! You would deffenitly need to be pulling 700+ for reps normally to do that I would think.-believe it was done with hook grip also-

330 at 165 lbs. Use the hook grip, and straddle (the classical way) regardless of weight - technique and getting used to thumb being smashed. Nothing wrong with the first version, but weight not balanced. Work singles, set up fresh everytime. don’t know about the super guy, didn’t see it on the site. Some of those guys are usawa guys. More information is on IAWA or USAWA websites. Goerner did a one hand deadlift of approximately 700. Just because one does a one hand deadlift very will doesn’t mean that same person can do any more on the two hand deadlifts - especially with the straddle style. It’s like a proper one hand snatch/jerk.

Goener could supposedly pull close to 800 with 2 hands.

Jon Pall Sigmarsson one of the greatest stron man ever, 4 times the World strongest man had a world record in one arm deadlift 250kg if im not mistaken (in the 80’s)… but I think he just did it for kicks not sure if there are any benifits from it…[/quote]

Just when you think that you are getting strong, you see a picture of someone deadlifting with one hand what you just pulled in competition. Damn

I second that 250 kg’s (550 pounds) is my best ever deadlift max.

I do suitcase deadlifts. They work the grip in the same way but also work the obliques. If your like me, holding on is the hardest part. I lift until my grip fails and then I bust out the straps. I normally do 3 working sets of 5.
