Once more with feeling

Mine are old enough for some of the worry (did I do it right? Will they survive as adults? Are they tolerating me because I slip them money?) to ease.

I’m sure I played some role in it, but my kids are so much better than I deserve. I honestly don’t know where they came from. Lol. They are so kind and loving and they both love to laugh. I genuinely enjoy their company. I am so excited for my oldest to go to college, and I hope he ends up going somewhere away. I think the experience would be good for him. To see what it’s like to live somewhere else and be away from us. To see what he wants out of life. But for me personally I absolutely dread the day he leaves. It will be so quiet here. I have a vision of the Cratchet house when you find out Tiny Tim didn’t make it. (Specifically the Muppet version).

Trapbar Deadlift
Warm-up sets

158 lbs. 85% x 3
176 lbs. 95% x 10 rep PR

I got called in this morning and had to cut the workout to just the main work. Fortunately I only had to work a half day, so I’m planning to head down to the gym and finish my workout once my lunch settles. Good mornings and sit-ups on a full belly feels like a bad combo.

I’m feeling very good about these pulls. I still have a ways to go to get to a weight PR, but a rep PR at this weight makes me happy. I wanted 8 and got 10. I think I still had one or two left in me but something told me 10 was enough. I really wish I had this kind of strength/ progress in my squat. But I will be patient and put the work in. (Lame). Soon I will see the fruits of my labor.

I will update my accessory work this evening. Until then, onward and upward.

Today is a good day.

Good mornings
55 lbs. 5 x 12

Sit-ups
7.5 lbs 3 x 15
10 lbs. 2 x 15

Why is it that my 10 pound plate feels about 100 pounds heavier than 7.5 pounds when I put it behind my head? I don’t understand they physics at play here. Either way, the work got done. I waited long enough to avoid vomiting. Unfortunately I didn’t wait long enough to avoid heartburn.

Good on you for coming back to it!

I’m shocked I did. If it’s not done by 9:00 am I’m probably not doing it. :joy:

That’s me, too. Although I have, since the miracle change of 2024, done like three evening workouts.

I’m always completely astonished. I felt much the same this morning, sneaking into my workout while the dog slept and then also going for a walk with him. Like, who am I?

This is why I like playing poker and why I never play for money…going all in is way too much fun haha.

:tada:

There is power in adding even one rep! It builds up over time. Nice work!!

@ChickenLittle I decided to give my complex a quick try this evening. I believe the overhead squat will be an independent move that I will practice until I can get a handle on it. Gonna have to replace it or just skip it till then. Badass I am not. Lol.

I understand. Somebody on here years ago, thought I needed to do them for some reason I certainly don’t remember  Not a fan.

I still think you’re a total badass!

Lol. Thanks. This is what happens when I read too much. :joy: And now I’m trying to decide if I want to buy the Vertical Diet because I read that it’s a good plan. :joy::joy: T-Nation is going to leave me broke and broken.

Complex

Clean and press
Front squat
Back squat
Good mornings
Row
Deadlift

Warm-up set 18 lb bar.
1 round 25 lbs.
2 rounds 30 lbs.

So this was more of a getting to know you kind of deal. I wasn’t sure where I should start with weight. I think 30 lbs worked out well.
I forgot how much I love the clean and press. The speed and power of the move is invigorating. (Not that there is a lot to slow you down with 30 #, but you’ve gotta start somewhere.) I worked up a nice little sweat.
I’m super awkward with the front squats. I don’t typically do them so my wrists and elbows are struggling for proper form, but they are 1000% better than my attempt at an overhead squat. I’m assuming they will get better the more I do them and they can only help my back squat.
I’m doing a so so job on my diet. I’m definitely eating more than I should, but I’m doing a pretty good job of not eating total shit food. No cookies or chips but I’ve been eating an excessive amount of raisins and mixed nuts. (Not trail mix, just handfuls of raisins and handfuls of mixed nuts independent of one another). Once I get myself back into a good food prep routine this should take care of itself.
I did very good two days ago in limiting my time here. Yesterday was less great, but not horrible. Gonna make a better effort today.

Today is a good day.

5/3/1 The Triumvirate Cycle 3 Week 3
Training max 95 lb.

Warm up sets

Bench Press
71.5 lbs. 75% x 5
81 lbs. 85% x 3
90.5 lbs. 95% x 7 PR

Incline DB Bench Press
20 lbs. 3 x 15
25 lbs. 2 x 15

25 lbs. 2 x 10

Today is an exciting day for me. I got to my 95% lift and realized that this is my white whale. I had 95 lbs in my head as my sticking point at 4 reps. Then I realized that I had actually been stuck at 90 lbs because I had the wrong weight for my bar (40 instead of 45). So this is not only a rep PR, but thanks to that little .5 lb it is also a weight PR. This lift was the whole reason that I started the 5/3/1 program. I finally got it. Should a woman of my age be embarrassed by the level and style of the happy dance that I did when I got off of the bench? Probably. Am I? Hell no. Can’t wipe the smile off of my face. What a wonderful way to start my day.

Today is a good day.

I think the happy dance is mandatory after a bench PR. XD

Crushed that PR, nice!

Winning. Just wait till you start adding in some joker sets on such days, adding a few more pounds for doubles/singles, it’ll be raining PR’s every session then! Congrats.
