Went for a 3 mile walk this morning. It was quite enjoyable.
The plague has been making it’s way through my house. I’m pretty sure I have finally fallen victim. We will see how I feel in the morning, but I have a feeling week 2 just got shit all over. I’m hoping this is a 24 hour thing so I don’t have to miss my trip to see my family. I will also be exceptionally disappointed if I have to miss my Thanksgiving race with my men. I’ve actually been training instead of just showing up day of and nearly dying like I usually do.
Thank you. I’ve had 2 cups of honey tea, taken my max amount of cold meds, I’m slathered in Vics and I have an essential oil mister blowing “breathe” into the air. I’ve done all I can do. It’s in the hands of the gods now.
Being sick is bullshit. Not a fan. Anywho, with the illness and the travel I’m calling this week a break. Time with my family is the important part. I will restart week 2 when we get back and move on from there. Still unsure if I will be able to run on Thanksgiving. If I can’t at least I can cheer on the menfolk.
What would one consider to be a reasonable timeframe for a cut?
I mean, what would be long enough to see results, but not so long that I start to hate life?
The method is part of the determination here. If it’s the Velocity Diet, run it the 28 days and then switch to something else. If it’s just a gradual calorie reduction, I like 12 weeks as a cap. It doesn’t have to be the end of the fat loss, but it can be where the phase pauses and a diet break is inserted, just to rebuild the metabolism and overcome diet fatigue.
3.15 miles. 30:45. Average pace 9:45.
Best pace 8:52. Average heart rate 153. Max heart rate 166.
Not a bad race for having a chest cold and it being 30 degrees. When I woke up I didn’t think I would be running the race. Coughing up crap. The old man talked me into it. I took some cold meds and gave it what I had. I’m glad I did. My husband ran the whole race with me. Much slower than he could have but I was glad to have him with me. My oldest got 3rd place overall in the race. That nut bag ran in shorts and a tank top with mittens and a hat. My youngest ran a good race and came in 11th in his age group. It was a wonderful way to start the day. Today will be a prep day for us. We will be having Thanksgiving tomorrow. Tonight will be chicken thighs and lasagna.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American buddies! Happy Thursday to the rest of you!

This chest cold is sticking around. Very annoying.
I’m back to weighing my food and tracking all calories in. As suspected, I have zero ability to stay in control without tracking. If I have to pick something to be neurotic about, there could be worse things.
I usually track for a few months. Then I stop. Then I gain 20-30 pounds. Lol. Trying to stop the cycle. I need structure.
Completely unrelated side note, I’ve started taking collagen. Gonna see if I start to look young.
It’s been great for my hair. My nails, too, but that annoys me. I keep them short and now I feel like I’m forever having to cut them.
I looked back and tracked pretty much full time (barring vacations) for a year and a half. I’ve been stopped for 6 months with occasional spot checks of a day to see how things look. Granted, I’m on a low dose GLP, but I’m hoping my internal tracker will continue to do the trick after Christmas, when I stop the deficit and see what happens.
