Olympic Lifting Routines

What kind of program are the good O lifters on here? Videos of lifters training usually just shows them clean and jerking and then snatching. Besides that do they just do a regular power based routine consisting of coumpounds?

tons of different ways to train for the olympic lifts. Varies by who writes the program and how they like to train or how your goals for training are.

best bet is to get a coach in the olympic lifts if your interested.

And generally if you snatch and clean and jerk you do it in that order, like competition

Thanks for the links.

Interestingly, the “DIRECT APPROACH OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING PROGRAM” article on weightliftingexchange is actually pretty similar to Louie Simmons article on how he would do OL training: 2 days with the competition lifts, 2 days strength training.

be careful, don’t always believe the name the person gives the program.

when it boils down, its just a program, and does it work for you?

and even so, the main thing with the olympic lifts is technique technique technique.

theres a kid on my team who, since his last competition (a week before mine), hasn’t really progressed at all in terms of weight or technique. His technique is shoddy at best. He might beat me again at our next competition, but by the end of the year, I’ll be ahead of him easily, because I’m a better technical lifter then him. (not to say the kid ain’t strong, be pretty much powersnatch/clean and then squats whatever he cleans or snatchs. Seen the kid powerclean 90kg to straight legs @ 77kg bodyweight w/ 3months of training.)
