Olympic Lifting Program for Golfers

CT,

There are Olympic lifting programs all over the internet, in fact, there’s a good one for beginners on Dan John’s site.

You’ve said before you thought your swing was the best while you were Olympic lifting thanks in part to improved shoulder and hip mobility.

Would a program for golfers be centered on the Olympic lifts? And if so, what would it look like?

I would like to know that too.

And do you play golf, CT?

I used to play. Actually I played competitively as a junior from 13 to 18 years of age. My father was the president of the local country club. Our whole family played. It’s been 7 years since I played though, not enough time.

From what I’ve read, rotational strength/power is difficult to train, so CT’s perspective would be an interesting read. I’m a five handicap in season and hit the ball a good distance, but there’s something to be said for being intimidating on the tee box…

Think about it…blend CT’s training principles with a mechanically sound golf swing, I’d definitely give it a go and report back the results, but like he said before, he can’t give everybody a program. I was simply trying to prey on his golfing background to get some input out of him…low, I know. Golfers will do anything for an edge, including square grooves (when it used to be a judgment call instead of a mandate).

Either way, I’d love to get CT on the course someday. I’d take the trip up north for that, just say the word.
