What is the difference between a full clean, and a power clean. Same question for snatches too.
Sorry if this seems like an obvious question. I’ve been trying to figure it out for months. It seems like there are different definitions depending where you look.

A full clean is a squat clean, where you make the catch and squat it down.
A power clean you catch in the standing position with only minimal dip.
You can, if experienced, full clean more than power clean, but, for people like me, the power clean is easier technically, and can do more weight.
Simple enough, a power clean or power snatch is when the weight is ‘powered’ upwards and the lift is ended with a minimal dip, or bending of the knees. A full clean or snatch is when the weight is pulled up in a similar manner, but the lifter dips (or bends the knees) singificantly in order to get under the bar rather than power it up as far.
If you want a good example, find some videos on YouTube of competition lifting and watch the clean/jerk and snatch, these are full olympic movements. Then search power clean or power snatch, and watch how the weight is caught at a much higher position.
ok, now i see where my confusion came from. I always thought when i saw people not dipping fully that it was just because they were less experiaenced or working with lighter loads.
