Yes, they both have clown faces.

If Ronnie had spent the entire year working more on his calves and his abs he would have won. I’m defiantly not saying he should have won but everything about him is better than anyone else except his relatively small calves and his bad midsection.
In some shots Wolf has a wider back than Jay. Jay was at 3% this year instead of 4. When you’re that big, an entire percent is defiantly noticeable. Jay had the freaky mass that Ronnie had but he had the hard midsection that Victor and Dexter had.
I think Wolf Should have gotten second. He’s got great genetics. I know it doesn’t matter how much weight someone lifts when it comes to bodybuilding but after seeing videos of Dexter Jackson and Victor work out I’m just puzzled. Dexter does his deadlifts with 225 in a smith machine. Victor brings his elbows to about a 50 or 55 degree angle when he does behind the neck lat pulldown and he only does his above parallel squats with 405. These guys are just far to big to not be stronger than that. It just makes me mad because it speaks to the point that most of their results come from genetics and good steroid science.
Consider in the videos you are talking about(BBing.com right?) they are precontest and not at their normal off season weights.
Also take into account their totally alien genetics and it’s not too suprising.
congrats to jay
but i thought victor should have got the win. i belive next year it will be a battle between vic, jay, and wolf.

his back looked like shit, and i personally think vic, jay and dexter, and wolf and a few others were better then ronnie. I would have liked to have seen vic take the olympia as he looked fantastic, jays midsection is just not appealing, nothing i would strive for.
Someone on that Bodybuilding.com forum brought up a good point about some areas not being as lean looking as others for jay and some others. Do you all see any signs of synthol use or anything that’s a result of something besides heavy lifting, steroids, lots of food, and pro-tan?

Yeah I saw some of that too on the olympia series thing they had. I think the problem with seeing the pros train is that much of the video released of their training is during their specific contest prep when have begun doing all the calorie reduction etc.
Thus being carb depleted and avoiding heavy lifting you see them lifting some fairly mediocre weights and using stuff like the smith machine a lot - i.e. seemingly geared toward training for the ‘pump’ as opposed to actually building any more muscle.
Synthol? I don’t think any of these guys are using that. People accused Marcus ruhl probably for those shoulders and that freaky lat problem he had. He denied it and said somethin like Synthol is unhealthy for your muscles and he’d like to have a long career so why would he use something that will end it early. I think that’s pretty much the mentality in the elite.
HGH is a different story altogether. Dexter Jackson is one of my favorites. His first competition weigh in was 137 pounds if I recall. He’s at about 220-230 now. Sometimes he looks like he’s got a destended gut too(HGH anyone?).
My point is it could be a lot of HGH or an abundance of test which makes Jay look like a collection of giant body-parts mixed with some leaner ones.
What was up with Ruhl being booed? was the crowd booing? it was kind of hard to tell with the poor audio quality, but even if they weren’t booing, when he came out it seemed like the energy died considerably. Is he not well liked or involved in some controversy or something?
I can’t help but wonder if the IFBB is kind of relieved that Coleman is retired, somehow, dynasties like his seem like they do more damage than good for the sport’s exposure and acceptance. I don’t imagine Cutler will maintain his Olympia for very long, and I think that the IFBB is anticipating that.
But, that’s just wondering out loud. I can just remember talking to some people who otherwise might have gotten into it, but were turned off by the idea of one guy being the clear winner every time.

They were saying “RUUUUUUUUUHL!” He’s supposed to be a crowd favorite.
Flex made some good points in that interview. Cutler SHOULD NOT have won the posedown. This should have been Vic’s show, and I think there are several who should have placed higher than Cutler. He was too blocky, not tapered at all, and he looked like he was still holding some water.

You’d be suprised.

Ah yes, that makes sense. Kind of unfortunate, it sounded like booing heh.
There was booing when he was announced (not in the top 15) the croud did not like it. also the “RUUUUUUUUUUUUUHL” was the sound of "love it, give it up for “RUUUUUUUUUHL”
i think opinions are varied.that’s why we are not judges and they are.if it were politics they would have let coleman win.jay and vic were very very close but maybe the judges saw something we didn’t,if vic should have won this will motivate him to the limit next olympia,it should do the same to wolf and cutler too,it will be a shoot out at the next one.
and as far as the m-d interview it sounds like somebody is sippin on the hater-aid he was just bitching about everything, the way i see it if he thinks he can compete with the big boys shut up and step up and try,or just stop the whining.and cutler’s abs were good on the final the night before i would agree he was a little water filled.wolf better build that lower back if he wants a top 3 next olympia.other than that impressive.
You do realize that that was fucking Flex Wheeler, right? He was one of the big boys. When Coleman won his first O, Flex was #2. Telling him to “shut up and step up and stop the whining” is retarded. He has tried, he was one of the best for the greater part of the 90’s and competed in 6 Olympias-placing in the top 5 5 times during his career. He never placed lower than 8th in an IFBB sanctioned event between 1993 and 2000. If anyone can talk about it, I think Flex Wheeler can.
Cutler looked like shit. For all of the yelling the IFBB has been doing about moving towards a more asthetic ideal, they did not demonstrate this, as Cutler had virtually no taper, a thick waist, hazy abs, and smooth arms and delts. There has been a lot of hype over the “x-frame” but the winner of the Mr. O this year had about as much x shape as a block of cheese.
I would have put Ronnie farther back than 4th, and 4th is where Cutler would have been at best IMO. Vic needs to work on his posing some, but he really fought for it in the final round…holding a hard pose until the moment the final decision was announced. Cutler ran away from Wolf every time they stood next to each other during the posedown, and the one time they got next to each other, it was easy to tell which one had a long future in bodybuilding and who’s days were numbered.
Dennis Wolf, Victor Martinez, David Henry, Dexter Jackson, and Melvin Anthony are where this sport should be headed, but the IFBB failed to live up to their well hyped change of direction with this year’s Olympia.
Well. I think Victor looks better myself, particularly in the abs.
What happened to Lee Preist? Did he retire or just not place well?
