Like I said, Phil won both rounds unanimously (5+5=10). According to all judges, Kai didn’t do better during the finals. In other words, he didn’t lose the contest during the prejudging. In fact, he even lost a point (10+11=21). Wolf improved a bit during the finals (15+14=29).
Ok, from this what I get is this: he came shredded in the finals, no extra points. He was soft on first day, no points lost. SO, let’s just say that they want phil to win for the next couple of years, so we won’t have to go through all this again next year.

GO KAI!
I don’t think this is a fair assessment. Kai knows what he needs to do, for years now he has been told, and for years now he doesn’t do it.
x2, kai never seems to work on his weak points which for me are his big waist and shit insertions on his arms.
I think his weakest point are his traps. At this point he cannot really change his waist. Also he can’t really work on his insertions. That is something that is genetic.
He seemed to slim down his waist a bit last year.
From the videos I’ve seen his arm training is actually quite sloppy and he focus a lot on peaking movements when he should be focusing almost exclusively on stuff like incline curls otherwise he’ll never compete with Heath’s fullness.

I haven’t seen many of his training videos but the only biceps movements I’ve seen him do were barbell curls and incline dumbbell. It was two different arm training videos too. Incline does seem to be a good choice for him.

my guess is Kai has and is training the shit out of his areas that need improvement. i think his traps were up and bigger, genetically speaking when he hits that lat spread it causes then to flatten out/spread out as his scapula expands – i think this is his genetic look, pretty sure if he could change it he would, i think he did add size. his shoulders also appeared to be fuller and bigger - specifically from the rear.

saying phil won this shot verse kai won this is so subjective anyways, it’s not a matter of being a good judge either, two very versed judges might have a varied opinion on what looks aesthetically ideal.

phil was/is more consistent and has a more classically palatable look.

i enjoyed this yrs show, i’m off tomorrow and want to go see generation iron!!!

dude you cannot change where you biceps or other muscles insert. no amount of exercises with a stretch emphasize will change that. you also cannot build a peak, or shape it. you can only add mass. how it will look solely depends on your genetics.

Honestly, I hate Kai’s frame, it just takes away from a lot of his muscle, and I think that’s why he won’t win unless Phil or others fail. His torso is too short and wide, so it makes his waist seem thicker when I don’t think it actually is. His legs are longer relative to his torso, and his lats make his frame look awkward, especially with his ability to completely make his traps disappear. His biceps are ugly in a few angles as well.

With all that said, I think Kai is an awesome competitor and brings it. The sport is about genetics and bone structure, and how the muscle lays on it. Kai just can’t quite fit in, sucks but it’s reality. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and them judges don’t think Kai is pretty haha.

This has been beaten to death on the forums but different exercises can absolutely put a different emphasis on a muscle group and create a different effect.

Otherwise all things being equal someone who does only incline bench will have the exact same pec development and look as someone who exclusively performs flat bench. This is clearly not the case.

(Of course I agree that you can’t change insertion points)

this is because the incline bench emphasizes more the upper chest which is a muscle on its own (pectorialis major clavicular head= upper, and sternal= lower) not because you shape it

Right on! Jay sure has a way with words and clearly appreciates the joy in the journey.

It’s classy the way he says towards the end that even if he had trained hard all year, he probably still couldn’t have beaten the guys who placed ahead of him.
