Yeah, he definitely got outsized, but his condition was amazing as expected.
I think this is really the 1st Olympia where it really is ‘completely open’. I mean no disrespect to Dexter, but I don’t think too many people expect him to take it again. Last year, it was more a matter of Jay losing than of Dex Winning. I’ve always been a fan of Dexter, but the size issue will always dog him next to the really big competitors.
Heath is just a freak, and most will agree it’s just an issue of time before he eventually wins the O. If he had switched places with Jackson last year, no one would have complained at all.
Martinez can truly bring it, and last year I think it was just too much expected of him at the Arnold. Not that he didn’t look great, but he’ll have more time to bring things back together for this Olympia, so we’ll have to see.
Jay, in my book, is the biggest wild card, in that such a large part of BBing fans are saying that his body is just done, and won’t respond anymore. Of course if he can regain his winning form, he’ll be the 1st Mr. O to ever do so… and the Magazines would love that story.
Kai is just a steamroller. After seeing his form at the Arnold, who knows how far he can push himself. I saw him last weekend at the NY Pro, and let me just say that he’s looking large!
Wolf seems to have ended up being a little more hype than substance last year. I think he’s a great BBer, with a lot of potential, but if he didn’t have a contract with MD, we wouldn’t be talking about him for another year or two.
Branch Warren, truly one of my favorites, I feel can be top five on a good day, but for whatever reason, (frame, blockiness, whatever), I just don’t think he will ever be an Olympia. He could conceivably take top 3 if he really really nails everything (one of those “I’ll look so f-cking good that they’ll have to reward me!” type of situations).
Gonna be a damn crazy show.
