it is better to push the sled than to pull it. prowler type sled is fairly simple to make. seeing a picture of mine would give you all the info you need to make one. I just need to get some pictures and post them so y’all can make your own.

Yeah I’d rather have the prowler but I have one of the football sleds meant for sprints. So I sprint my ass off.

Took 8 seconds off his 200m freestyle
took 14 seconds off his 200m breast
Jr is kicking ass and taking names. He just turned 13 so he is in the bottom of a new age group - which means he is still getting his butt kicked, but his hard work is really paying off for him.

I now declare myself king of the wussies. no training this week. I hate travelling. At least I stayed on the diet thus far, but crap, how much work do I have to do?

last night, did some work on the hamster ball. easy to get out of breath when you are big and fat
this morning, walked for 30 min
weighed 292, so finally headed down again.
big vacations coming up, so lifting will be as sporadic as it has been, but every hotel has a hamster ball…
doing the 3+1 diet, dr Eades if you care. I think this is what Shugart based the Velocity Diet on, but its much easier. 3 shakes (75g protein, 2 tbs cream) and 1 regular meal. Also, according to that diet, need to give the liver a break so no alcohol (easy) no ibuprofen (easier) no caffeine (which is why I haven’t done the diet whole hog before).
I have started mixing decaf beans with my regular beans before I grind them. By saturday, it will be 100% decaf. stay off the caffeine and stuff for 2 weeks. the cytosport protein powder at costco is pretty good in vanilla flavor. I add a tsp of metamucil for the yummy orange flavor, and to “keep things moving”.
disneyland vacation is coming up. last year I felt like a cripple the whole time, whining and limping. so, I am trying to drop some fast lard so walking and standing for long periods won’t destroy me again. Plus, I read that dan john article about going all out for fat loss for a month, and you know how I like to swing from Danny’s nuts.

this morning, walked 30 minutes. 3 hours later, hip is killing me. not sure what I did to anger the hip gods so terribly, but they are punishing me nonetheless.
regardless of the anger and hate of the hip god, if the iron gods are kind, i will bench tonight while roasting flesh for my dependants.
I add metamucil to my protein drink as well. I think that mean we’re old.

the metmucil gives us an “orange julius” taste and thickness.

didn’t bench last night. been thinking thinking thinking about my hip, and i remember that i had stopped squatting and deadlifting before the problem. that, and some of the articles i’ve read recent-like, got me thinking that perhaps my glutes are to blame. so, last night a I did hip raises with 135 lbs. 4 sets of 5.
this morning I got 3 sets of 5 at 185. Man, I hope this helps. my malaise with this hip is making me feel old grumpy and cranky. you know. makes me feel like me, instead of better.
MJ- Im no doctor, but foam rolling my IT band daily , sometims twice and using a lacrosse ball on my glutes has helped my hips alot.
