man, it takes forever to get things done.

i finally worked out again. this morning, prowler + 40 lbs x 40 yards x 10 trips. Don’t know where my energy went. I am down to 4k feet, but still can’t get it. I was getting pretty pukey on 8, 9, and 10.

Should be able to prowlerize almost daily the rest of the week, and hopefully do some lifting as well.

I got real pukey on Sunday doing sprints. Not a good feeling. I had to lie on the livingroom floor for a bit before I could stand up and not be dizzy.
Have fun pushing the prowler around this week.

glad to see you persevering. I am all flustered because my training schedule is going to be off, i.e. I am going on vacation. I hate not getting training in, to the point where it is probably a full blown psychological disorder in someones book…

i feel you. family vacation coming up and i can’t take the prowler with me. Disneyland is not lifter-friendly.

this is really an asskicker, especially when dieting. Feels like I have no energy left. must be working

First week of prowlerizing, I lost 10 lbs, from 301 to 291. The following week, I gained 7 of it back, so I was 298 this monday. I am back down to 293 after pushing today. I am spending the next 2 weeks in Laramie, so the opportunity of diet breaking and fat larding is high. Except, I am taking my own fucking microwave and I will make my own dinners. If I can stay human and reasonable for lunches, and work out a couple times per week, I may actually continue to lose weight while I travel.

Other shit: bought my first swiss ball. I only use it in the garage where no one can see, and I always turn off the lights. doing the Chad Waterbury ab stuff along with some other mobility shite (Genilcore and some other dude) that has been written about in the last 3 weeks or so. Hoping that this kind of stuff will help my hip get better so I can get back to real lifting and throwing too

note that the last 2 abortions were performed on my shame - the big red “body ball” that my wife and son lovingly refer to as “daddy’s hamster ball”. speaking of balls, I feel mine shrinking even now.

note further that the final thing was hard as fuck, so i must need it. not to be compared with anal sex, which is hard as fuck, but I definitely don’t need it.

No need to be embarrassed about your big red ball as long as you don’t start doing curls while standing on it.

I think preparing for lifting and anal sex have a bit in common. It’s very important that you warm up well and stretch properly beforehand for both to avoid muscle tears and avoid those dreaded next day “arse DOMS”!!

Good luck with the 14 pushes tomorrow, you seem to be getting your consistency back, well done.

7/3/11 PROWLER PUSHIES

prowler + 40lbs x 40 yards x 14. Finally got 14 pushes. There was much resting between trips.

If anyone is reading this, especially guys that have successfully dropped lard, I am wondering something. I push fasted, first thing in the morning. I am not sprinting or anything, but it would certainly be classified as interval work. Now, most of the stuff I have read indicates that you should do steady state stuff fasted, and intervals you should be fed (probably because dry heaves are painful, but who knows?). After about the 8th push I really feel my energy taking a nosedive. So here is the question - should i have a little shake or something before i push?

Discuss. please.

At the risk of having Brett back talking about anal sex my suggestion would be to have a handful of nuts (almonds) about 10 minutes before you start.

Since your primary goal here is fat loss, I say go fasted. I’ll come back to this but first I want to make a couple points:

  1. Alwyn Cosgrove did a really casual study as to which kind of energy expenditure work was best for fat loss: jogging, sprint intervals, or suspension training. The upshot was all were about the same. The difference was enirely based on whether or not the participants just up and quit because they didn’t want to do it anymore.

Moral: It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you can stick with it for a long time.

  1. 20 minutes of prowlwer pushing is likely something in the order of 400-500 calories burned. But really, you’d burn about 100 just walking around, so really the difference is about 300-400 calories. That’s 3/4 of a quarter pounder with cheese.

MORAL: It’s easier to create a calroic deficit with diet than with exercise, and it’s easiest of all with both.

Getting back to your original question… there may be some slight metabolic benefit to doing fasted cardio. But in the long run, it’s more important that you just do the cardio. I’ll srgue for doing it fasted because it will be one less thing going into your belly. Also, you rbody doesn’t burn fat when it has an easier energy source… like the sugar from your shake.

I’d say you’re doing great and should keep doing it!

Speaking of suck, here is what I did 7/5/11:

  1. drive 400 miles.
  2. had breakfast with Mother Newland. have to drive through her town on the way to laramie, and it’d be a shame not to stop, so I always do.
  3. worked for a couple hours after driving.
  4. worked out. like this:

1a wallpush deadbug (Waterbury) 10/10
1b fagball leg curl then 1 leg up extension thing (w) 4/5 each side
2a 1 leg hip thrust on bench (gentilcore) 10/10 each side
2b 4 way paloff press (can’t remember) 20s/20s each direction
3a yoga plex (g) 4/5 per side
3b 3 point extension (g) 2/2/2 epic fail on my part, these are really hard if you’re a fat guy.

reverse lunge, bw x 3/3/3 epic fail on my part, these are really hard if you’re a crippled fat guy.

at 7,000 ft, this stuff kicked my ass, but I was glad I got to the gym. this bw circuit of sorts, I’ll be trying to do this at least 3 times per week.

really happy with this for a couple reasons. first off, I had myself completely talked out of lifting because i forgot to bring my clothes to the office. Went back to the hotel, got the lifting threads, went back to the office and lifted. Second, last time I did push presses, I couldn’t even get a single at 205 and I got a double today. might be getting stronger or something.

I haven’t pushed the prowler since friday, but I had to be in the office super early today, and there wasn’t time. I have more time tomorrow, so I am going to get up a little earlier and push befoer work. The great thing about travelling by car is that you don’t have to travel light. In addition to my prowler, I also brought an ancient (and huge) microwave so that I can make dinner in my room and at least have 1 meal each day that’s diet compliant.

no liting tomorrow night, as my brother Satan and I are going drinking. friday, drive home and watch the boy swim, monday drive back up. if I can prowlerize tomorrow then again on sunday, that’d be cool.
