KMC, so correct form is falling forward on one’s face because thats how I do OHS.(joking)

MJ, good you didn’t deadlift. Tha plague is bad. Have fun dragging the sled.

5/25/10 5/3/1 deadlift(5) cycle 10
330x 5 just did the necessary, then took a couple “heavy” singles
370x 1
410x 1

I decided that on deadlift I need to occasionally go a little heavier, so on the “5” days, I will hit the required number, then hit a couple singles. I won’t be “maxing”, just working up to something a little heavier.

This was actually a big PR for me, I have not stood up with that much weight in my hands since 1981. it didn’t exactly blast off the floor, but it came up steady and clean. its not the 456 that the calculator says I’m good for, but it felt good to have to fight it a little.

i only got 3x10 at 235 and 4 sets of decline sit ups and had to get back to the office.

I was a snorty little piggy over the weekend and weighed 301 when I got to the gym. I was totally out of control. i had a non-stop out of control bad carb fest from friday through sunday (with favorite guest stars ICE CREAM and Whiskey but not at the same time). It would have disgusted the mayor of Rhodestown…or made him proud, i’m not sure

PS, I made up for all the extra eating by not walking or dragging my sled or doing any other kind of useful work.

Nice pulls, good work.

I always like how you keep it real on the eating front and skip the cardo, I mean what good is a cheat if your gonna just jog it off.

Nice work on the OHS. I’m thinking of adding them in as an accessory after the meet. I used to do them quite a bit and then forgot about them. They’re a nice way to strengthen your core. A lot of people don’t have the flexibility for them.

Great DL, back over the 400 barrier. Looking good, sans the minor backsliding.

I am a big fan of doing 1 or 2 heavy singles after you do the money set. I tend to take an extended rest and then give them a shot.

Nice going MJ. You keep banging it out…Now I slide back to the dingy backwaters of the non-believers.

My weekend diet looked about the same. I’ll pick you up on my way to OA.

Congrats on the 410 DL. And keep up with the OHS.

5/26/10 5/3/1 abortionthatisbench(5) cycle 10
235x11, no pr, but equals my current best.

did the “jack shit” accessory template because I had to get back to the office quick

go fast harder

After 2.5 months, I have just now received my elitefts belt. i got a spud belt first, and I sent it back cuz it was too big, then they got their accidental shipment of double prongs, and I said just trade for that, but they sold out too fast, no finally I got my single prong, thick as a tire, competition belt. This Thing is BUTCH!!

just gave away my bodybuilder belt that I have been using for the past 20 years. This belt looks and feels bombproof, so I will prolly never have to buy a new one.

i feel so happy I could cry.

And I get to squat with it tomorrow!

I expect a full review on the belt. I still feel like it’s too early for me to be using a belt (the term “poseur” comes to mind), but I’m curious to hear your experience with it.

i suck more than the belt.

there was much fail in today’s lifties. got the min. on squats, with lots of foul twisting. went to do front squats, something started squealing in my IT band. rolled the shit out of it for 5 minutes, no improvement. cannot bend leg. did some abz and left.

i am sad

6/2/10 5/3/1 weighted dips(3) cycle 10
320x11 (needed 13 for a pr)

5x10 militaries went well, still improving there. dropped weight on pulldowns, trying to engage my lats like in that article, but will start working up on the pounds again.

been really busy, haven’t had time to look at everyones logs. sorry.

MJ,my IT still gives me pain sometimes. Feels like its going to pull off the bone at my knee. It can ruin a perfectly good workout when it flares up.

Hey, you work in IT too?

Wait…what?

Many of us play in the IT Band.

6/4/10 5/3/1 deadifties(3) cycle 10
350x 4 = lose

only did 3 of my 5 sets of 10 on accessories cuz i ran out of time. i’ve been doing glute bridges as part of my warmup and it just takes me too long.

I am too fat for my new belt, so I couldn’t push the deadlift today. i get nervous over 300 without a belt, so I just did a little more than the minimum.

I left lots of meat and blood on the bar.

On the upside, we have a local tv station with a website much like craigslist. I have started collecting olympic weights. In 3 purchases over 4 weeks, totalling $50, I got one nice bench, 2 shitty benches, 3 oly bars and 560 lbs of plates. One of the benches has detachable standards that you can use for a squat rack. I now have enough stuff for 90% of my training. I can hang spotting chains from the garage rafters, so I can live without a power rack for awhile (I saw one for $40 but I was too slow). Only things I can’t do are dips and pulldowns. my next task is to build a deadlift platform so I don’t bust up the floor of my garage. keeping my eyes open for a plate-loaded pulldown machine, but not a priority. I am looking forward to setting the weights down as hard as I want

build it harder

build it harder indeed…
so skimping on the 40 oz purchases for a few weekends,
and you got yourself a garage dungeon gym.

nice work.

Sounds like a sweet set-up. You can lift, and then snack on the non-5-3-1’ers that you have been saving in the hole under the garage dungeon.
