i would be much less unhappy if my young bride would play with me on my toys. but, she refuses on moral grounds. she is against all things resistance-based

You know how U2 is touring with The Fray? I am listening to the Fray, they are about 30 minutes into their set. Wife and son are at the show. wife is a huge fan, so when she could only get 2 tickets, I said I’d stay home. I may be the most loyal husband ever. I am in my back yard, sipping rye and typing. We are less than a mile from rice-eccles stadium, so I can hear the show pretty well. oh, they just said this is their last song, so I am thinking U2 is on at 8.

hit some curls with an empty bar.
started back on a strict low-carb (veg are only carbs) diet today. Its the only thing that has helped me lose weight. My eating has been out of control for over a month, I am back up to 298, and my pants are so tight its hard to breathe. hence the diet.
Also, walked for a whopping 15 minutes. it has been months since i have done this.
Here is the plan. lift pretty much every day, but just main lifts, no accessories. just trying to recreate my old need to have a barbell cutting my hands. Gonna take it slow and frequent, adding accessories back in after a few weeks.
Start doing fasted walking. this really helped the fat loss for the piddly few weeks I did this. so I am doing it again. it is also good rehab for the hip. I can’t do anything with my adductor if the muscle isn’t warm. I can’t do it this week, but next week I will start doing the fasted walking in the morning, followed by leaning on the prowler. I still haven’t trained with it. I am such a disappointment.
So, that’s my big fucking plan. I am pretty angry at myself right now, which usually helps to keep me focused.

I think frequent (every day) low volume training is more productive than say, 3x a week higher volume lifting even if the volume is equal.
I think that having a daily metabolism boost really works.

today I did some snatch-grip deadlifts, concentrating on 2 things: keeping my back as upright as possible, and getting a big power shrug at the top.

on the 3d rep of the last set, my form was degrading pretty bad. Since I want to get back in slowly, instead of letting my ego get me hurt, I ended there.
as part of my warm up, I did a bunch of single leg step up things on an 8" box. I did like 8 sets of 5 on each leg. did them mostly to warm up my adductor before I rolled it. Now, my quads are almost cramping. I am gonna be sooooore tomorrow.
but, so will everyone else on here, so who gives a shit.
going to laramie next week, taking the prowler, gonna use it this time. just need to stay consistent. since i lift at dinner time (usually while roasting flesh) I can keep that habit. the office in laramie has a little weight room with oly weights (not bumpers). since I will be working every nite until about 9pm, I can go lift around 5, then eat my dinner while i matrix out all the snivels about the days testing. user acceptance testing is just so much fun.
it feels good to be lifting again. just need to keep at it.
