Older Larder Ass

i did some deep-ass bodyweight squats yesterday. nothing tore off the bone, which I consider to be “good sign #1

This morning the hip is a little stiff around the adductor tie in on top of the femur, but I am able to walk without pain. been doing some little things for the adductor today, mainly pinching a little basketball between my knees, to get some blood in there.

I can’t start squatting full bore yet, but I can start pulling lightly I think.

have a great weekend y’all

Damn that’s good to hear. I guess you can expect some stiffness simply from not having squatted for a while. Take it incredibly conservatively. I hope things continue to be pain free and you are back throwing before too long.

okay, so i finally got around to lifting:

4/13/11 5/3/1 bench(1) cycle 13
245x 4 meh

bbbbbbench cg
155x 10/10/10/10/10

bbb bb roze
155x 10/10/10/10/10

shrugs
225x 10/10/10

kerlz
55x 10/10/10

supersetted the bench/roze and shrugs/kerlz. ran out of time and had to stop on the 3d set.\

I think I am taking slightly better control of my schedule, so I should be hitting this with more consistency and regularity.

also, have high hopes for throwing. about 10 days ago I stopped following my pt’s instructions, and my hip has been nearly pain free for a couple days. i’ll be hitting some bodyweight squats tonight, see if the adductor and/or psoas peels off the femur. If not, I will be going back to 5/3/1 on squats and deadlifts, but with a very low training max, prolly around 200 lbs to start.

my promise to myself is that if I can get 2 weeks pain free, I get to take a couple test throws. we’ll see how that goes.

wish harder

That looks like a good bench to me. Glad your hips are feeling better.

Thanks E

it is 3:48am Monday. I am posting on my son’s computer while I babysit the removal of some nasty malware on my lappy. This was very anxiety producing. but, its all fixed, and I’m going to bed now.

I lifted on friday, but without my logbook, I don’t really remember what I did.

That sounds great that you think you might be able to still throw.

Wow, you know you’re a wreck when things not tearing off the bone is considered a good sign!

we takes what we can gets

4/15 5/3/1 military(5) cycle 14
145x 10

bbbmillies
125x 8/9/9/10/10
fatman pullups
5/5/5/4/3

shruggz
185x 10/10/10/10/10
kerlz
60x 10/10/10/10/10

ll reps on the money set would have been a pr, so I am getting close on millies. the bbb millies increased reps on subsequent sets because I was doing some things, and got progressively longer rest periods.

Hoping to make time for deadlifties tonight.

fit it in Harder

Its looking like you’ll be PRing a fair bit on the milies soon.

Boy I hope so Joe, but here its been over a week since my last liftage already.

not dead, just crazy

Where you at?

Come on man, you’re on page 2!!!

hey brett, I’ll have to catch up on everyone’s logs, i feel like ive been missing out.

The malware did not clean off my computer, and it has proven to be a big pain in the ass. since I need the lappy for my second job, and its running super slow, all my spare time is spent futzing around with this POS trying to get it figured out. At least now I’ve figured some workarounds so my work is getting done at a faster pace.

I hope everyone has been well.

Lifted tuesday, first time in over 2 weeks. I warmed up my adductor real well, and did some deadlifting. I did it clean grip, with a power shrug at the top.

135x 5
185x 5
225x 4
245x 3
265x 3/2

I haven’t lost quite as much strength in the dead as I was afraid of, but feel pretty weak. Still, it felt good to pull something off the ground again.

the adductor is a little sore today, but I think if I warm it up and roll it out I’ll be okay.

question your assumptions harder,
old lardass

Why are you taking so much time off from lifting?

This workout does not look 5/3/1!! You are officially off the team. You will be eaten.

How do you feel after the lifting. The hip doing okay?

i just finished making my prowler. everybody’s all whiney because I was not all working on mothers day and stuff. I am so selfish.

ha. prowler. Now, it is time to retreat to the fortress of Swole-itude, like superman, and prepare…

I won’t get to push it til monday nite. when I’m in Laramie. At 7,000 feet.

HA prowler.

im so happy i could just shit

It is my lack of testosterone and lack of commitment to the sport. My hideous weakness is taking control, and I spend all my time doing needlepoint of chad aichs.

Actually, its my second job. i got fired from the call center i used to work at, and instead of getting another side job, I started a little business. I am doing search engine optimization and online traffic generation for some internet marketers. I learned how to do this stuff because I am learning how to do internet marketing.

So, i got a real bad trojan on computer, which made it run real slow, gave me a ton of browser redirects so I kept going other than where i need to be. basically, this meant it took me 6 hours to do 2 hours worth of work. so there was no time for lifting.

Now, though, after spending almost 3 hours on the phone with microsoft tech support, who were awesomely awesome, my lappy is clean as a whistle and running fast again.

Now, on monday I am driving up to Sparta, where life is simple and committed to self improvement. The office I will be working at has a little weight room with oly plates (not bumpers) and stuff, so I will lift and push my prowler.

So, that is my sad little story.

Did I mention that Now I have my own prowler? a prowler that is all mine mine mine?

I claim dispensation under Jim Wendler’s “train what is trainable” credo for beat up old hurt fat guys.

Since my adductor is still pretty bad, I can’t really do a full workout on squat or deadlift, so it will be awhile before that stuff is done 5/3/1 style again. right now its all about the rehab.

Bench and military are done 5/3/1 when I monthly drag my ass into the Fortress of Swolitude for lifties.

Hey, Steve, guess what? I built myself a prowler! happyhappyhappy

Hey Joe. it was a little tender the day after, but I did some good girls at my desk with a basketball to get some blood in there, and it felt pretty good after.

the trick was riding a stationary bike for 20 minutes to get the joints lubed and get the adductor warm, then roll and stretch, then lift. so long as I can force myself to do a few minutes on the bike so that muscle gets warm before I get ready to lift, I think I’ll be okay. Its still going to be awhile before I can go heavy again. but its nice to have hope again. I really let myself get depressed, and it turns out I should have just ignored the doctor in the first place.

Its nice to have hope. And a nice new prowler that I knitted out of 1.5" steel pipe. i can’t believe ive had the stuff to build it for over 2 months, and I just got to it today.
