Good job on becoming a judge. I am planning to go check out the Highland Games here in Minnesota on May 14th, couple guys I know are competing. I was at the crossroads of investing in a kilt, or more PL gear. PL won.

kilt is cheap compared to new briefs. at least I think so. still, the kilt won’t help you squat more. at least you have your priorities straight.
I’m on cable. just upgraded from 1.2MB to 20MB. wife just called to say it was fast.

felt shitty, had been a whole week since i last lifted. got through it. today, as i reviewed my numbers, it became clear that instead of cycle 14 like i thought i was doing, i was repeating cycle 13. Oh well. almost done with this cycle so I can go into the real cycle 14. I think this is the 3d cycle I’ve repeated, so I have actually been on 5/3/1 for 16 cycles.
The curls I am only going up 5 lbs/session. the shrugs I will go up 50lb/session until I am at a weight that is decent work.
My hip was feeling shittier and shittier, so I stopped working it for a few days. Its feeling better. I think I may have been pushing the stretches too hard. I will start em up again next weekend, a little gentler. both the adductor and the psoas feel beat to shit. serve me up some sighs with my waaaahmburger.

I hate all officials/judges just on principle. Unless they rule my way. I’ve been thinking about getting my USATF certification. Might when I stop competing. And my internets like 1 step up from dial up.

Yeah don’t waste money on the deluxe model. Apart from the wood trim, cup holders and upgraded stereo, they’re basically the same.
And yes take those stretches gently, push too hard and you’ll end up in more discomfort than if you didn’t do them. I’ve discovered this recently by jumping straight into shoulder and hip mobility work for snatching. Owwwww.

Shoot away. Doubt it is going to happen this year, but next year is high in the realm of probability. Couple of strong young bucks that live by and train at my commercial gym compete regularly. Have invited me to train with them.

I think I am taking slightly better control of my schedule, so I should be hitting this with more consistency and regularity.
also, have high hopes for throwing. about 10 days ago I stopped following my pt’s instructions, and my hip has been nearly pain free for a couple days. i’ll be hitting some bodyweight squats tonight, see if the adductor and/or psoas peels off the femur. If not, I will be going back to 5/3/1 on squats and deadlifts, but with a very low training max, prolly around 200 lbs to start.
my promise to myself is that if I can get 2 weeks pain free, I get to take a couple test throws. we’ll see how that goes.
