accessory work was messed up. did 4x13 on pd abz. tried desparately to do front squats, but coould not. something weirdly tight in my hips. after 2 sets of crap, I switched to GMs for a couple sets.

My form on front squats has deteriorated terribly. they are going to get their own work in my lab in the garage. do rep after rep until my form is good. In the meantime, since I do bbb deadlifts as accessory on my squat days, and I can’t do front squats, I’ll do olympic back squats as the accessory for deadlifts. I hope.

In the meantime, I pulled a very solid triple at 340, when last week I barely pulled a triple at 320. I hope this means some of my strenght is coming back.

It may have been a while since you lifted heavy, but you weren’t exactly sitting on your ass the whole time. All the throwing you did is going to make the strength come back quickly. Nice trend on the BW.

Generally works that way. Are you doing your front squats with the crossed arms or the racked hands position. I’m using the crossed arm. Taken me about a month but I’m finally starting to feel comfortable front squatting. Really starting to like them, too.

Harry, I’m doing it from the rack position, so I can be carl when I grow up. I am going to restrict these to the “lab” (my garage) from now on. I am hoping to spend some time on the oly lifts a couple evenings per week, and that means getting the form on my front squat right, so I can load it.

I am doing an oddball diet that is designed to control rheumatoid arthritis, cuz I have that and it sucks. completely opposite of what I used to do. most of my food is green veg, with rice and beans too. I have dropped my protein intake by about 2/3. all the veggie goodness is supposed to control the arthritis. i’ve only been doing it a week, and I have had some relief, in addition to dropping some weight. I am still not getting the amounts of food right, because (a) 10lbs/week is not sustainable, and (b) i can’t stop cheating in the evenings because of how starved i am. even for a fat guy, when you lose 10lbs in 1 week while you are cheating your ass off, somethings missing. I am starting to get it dialed in though. One thing I can say about the high in bunny food diet, while my energy is down, i feel healthier, which is nice. We’ll see how this all goes, but I would really like to get down to 250 and see how I feel/perform at that weight.

My strength is coming back. its never fast enough, but its still good. I like being able to hit more than the minimum reps again. for accessories, my pulldowns are where they were when I stopped lifting, so the throwing kept me from losing any strength in the upper/middle back. bench and military still need some catching up.

All in all feeling good about lifting and life. Just wish I had more time for both of them.

So how many grams of protein are you taking in?

Joe, thanks. i wish it was faster, but, you know…

snap, I am getting no more than 175g protein most days, closer probably to 130. Before I started this diet I was getting over 300. number at the end is my weight at the beginning of the training session.

I really wanted to hit 4 or 5 at 315, but I didn’t have it. now I get a couple days of rest. this is one of the few weeks where I have been able to get the entire wave of 4 training sessions into a single week. happy about that.

now that I am getting back into squatting, I am feeling some weakness in my lower back coming out of the hole. My spinal erectors have always been a weakness, so I am going to try and do some work on them in the lab.

pulse still high 30 minutes after, i am in some pretty pathetic shape. I am going back to twice per week, and do some kind of conditioning work at least twice per week. no one should be this out of shape. I am going to find a nice long hill to walk up on my lunch breaks. I don’t know how else to start.

My strength is coming back on the military, last week i hit 8 at 135. I am going to start taking one or 2 singles from now on, I hit a single at a whopping 165, but i had nothing left in the tank after my reps.

I will stick with bb rows at the same weight as bbb bench, at least until i decided to 5/3/1 Rows. It is not an exercise I have done in the past. Maybe it will help my bench to have the back strong.

kroc roze are still an embarassment, but i get 3 more reps than last time. baby steps.

bad weekend, i am an emotional eater, and I ate. Many pints of ice cream were harmed in the making of this weekend. But I think I found another one of my neighbors that is an alien. just sayin.

I was really hoping to get a double at 365 and a single at 390, but the single at 365 was all I had. sad for me.

I had a real problem getting all the way down for the squats. something kept getting tighter and tighter in my back, until i couldn’t get down. it didn’t help that on EVERY rep of my 3rd set, i farted every time in the hole. I was laughing so much I couldn’t do any more. i will have to spend some time on the mobility thread and try to get the hip/back thing stretched out. its more of a problem when I superset with abz, so I may need to do them one after the other instead of mixed together. we’ll get it fingered out.

yesterday was pathetic. I tried to find a hill to walk on my lunch breaks, and ended up being depressed about the election. I am a screaming lefty, and not at all happy. Anyway, next week i am just going to the gym and riding the stationary bike and doing some kb swings or barbell complexes. i hate the stationary, but I hate being a hard-breather even worse.

much better weekend, stayed on the diet, went for walks both saturday and sunday mornings before work. down to 290 this morning, which is 4 lbs down from last monday. The only downside of the weekend was that I couldn’t get into The Lab and bench. so bench today.

Congrats on staying on the diet for the weekend. I know its not easy. I was good for a week then crumbled and ate enough for a small village this past weekend.
